Mosin M-44. It was cheap, the ammo was cheap and cycling that stubborn bolt was oddly fun. I could never achieve anything greater than 10 MOA at 100 yds.
Update: Aimpoint responded with the response from the engineers in Sweden with "You were right, no threadlock on the helicoils" and sent a new T-2. Hope this helps out.
Glad I could help. My last customer experience with Aimpoint was 5/5. I'm anxious to see what happens here... Most helicoils usually have to be drilled out and resized so I'm not sure if I'm to expect a replacement or fix on this.
I just want to share an accident that occurred to my brand new Aimpoint T-2 to prevent any previous or future Aimpoint micro optic users from repeating. So a description or warning is not listed anywhere in the manual stating that the new T-2 uses helicoils... no more aluminum threads. So, if...
"In a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, ATF Director B. Todd Jones said all types of the 5.56 military-style ammo used by shooters pose a threat to police as more people buy the AR-15-style pistols."

Agreed. If I didn't shoot my Mosin so frequently, the boiling water cleanse wouldn't bother me. However, after a few trips to the range each month and minimal time on my hands, I'd stick with Eliminator.
I had one that was in the same spot and eaten up even worse by rust. No issues at all. I just made sure to have a coat of CLP on it to prevent further pitting.
My vote is with the CX4 Storm. One of the best investments I've ever made. Overall fantastic weapon and great for home defense (quiet, low recoil, higher velocity and easier to control than handgun).
Looks like a well maintained rifle. I wasn't aware if DD ever made a chrome BCG or the chroming process was done by the user? Keep kickin' cancer's ass.
I owned the Hi Point 995TS and sold it. It's a fun PCC to shoot but it's very bulky, plastic feels cheap and heavy for only carrying a single stack 9mm magazine of 10. Ran brass very well and fairly accurately but was inconsistent with steel case ammo. Charging handle left a lot to be desired...
Pretty it much it boils down to the basics of what jmr40 covered. Think about the amount of humidity and moisture working itself into that garbage bag. Even if you stick it in case with a sock over it, the oil will be absorbed by the material and the metal will begin to oxidize. I made the same...
I've had most of my rifles coated with anti-corrosive finishes which have been amazing. If that's not a route you'd like to go, I've heard about these working pretty well (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/BAG-097). Haven't tried it myself but seems more legit than the garbage bag deal...
Here's the official word from Aimpoint:
"The ring is a ultraviolet glue used to seal the rear lens. All Aimpoint sights are pressure tested, and I highly doubt that there will be any problems. There is more glue you can’t see under the rear retaining ring. I would be glad to replace the rear...
