Traveling the Lower 48 States Which Firearm Would You Choose For Protection?

If I'm all by my lonesome out in the hinterlands my first choice would be a .44 revolver I know that my Smith & Wesson will put a hunk o lead where I point it . I've had it 30 years and trust it. Its easier to carry than a long gun and big enough to stop most threats first shot.

    what to carry

I think over all the .45 1911 is going to be the go to. I have shot it some so am familiar with the operation or the pistol and how to clear a malfunction and can hit a target fairly close to center mass .It packs a decent punch and offers a quick reload . I am a good shot with the S&W 29 but...

    what to carry

I have a couple .44s ,a Smith & Wesson 29,and a Ruger Vaquero and a couple of 1911s Colt , and Springfield and a few different .22s and a .22 Mag revolver . Lions and tigers and bears don't bother me too much , I'm more likely to run across a raccoon , I was thinking of carrying more for piece...

Think shotguns will ever be "cool" again?

My first long gun was a Mossberg 500 12 Gauge (I still have it) I got it because I could use it for everything . Ducks , pheasant , rabbit , squirrel ,and deer . It'll also work for home defense . You are telling me that's not cool ?

    Didn't know I had it

I was doing a little cleaning and organizing down in the grouch cave and on the bottom shelf sort of hidden by some other stuff was a small metal ammo box almost new looking . I sort of remember getting it and loosing track of it and replacing it . I pulled it off the shelf , and something was...

    Nylon 66

My Uncle had one of those things. As I recall it was not too reliable. Don't think it made it through a magazine with out some kind of stoppage. Another Uncle had a Browning .22 that was lots more fin because it would shoot without any problems. That thing kind of poisoned my opinion of Remington...

Maybe take your son along and let him decide what rifle is appropriate for him ? If it is HIS gun he might use it more than if it is a gun he had no input in selecting . Just a thought.

    pepper ball "guns"..?

Friend of mine sold them when he worked for a L.E. supply store. they have limited range and if the person is wearing bulky clothing the pellets bounce off. best plan is to hit something NEXT to the perps head to burst the pellet and disperse the OC . they look close enough to a real weapon to...
