    Titegroup and Power Pistol

I think the real problem was alluded to in Walkalong's last post: You can't predict the results. Each powder, as it burns produces a unique set of combustion products. We don't know exactly what they are. One or more of the combustion products of powder A may act as an accelerant for powder...

    Titegroup and Power Pistol

This is the primary reason for working from 1# bottles, refilled from the 8#ers. Back in high school chemistry class I was instructed to never put excess of a chemical back in the original container. Either use it, store in in another clearly labeled container, or neutralize and dispose of it...

dillon powder measure and ramshot true blue

This may solve any powder leakage problem with the Dillon powder measure, it did for me with H110. When using the small powder bar on the Dillon powder measure you have to install a spacer. This can introduce a tolerance stacking issue and cause the normally close fit of the parts to become...

    Question on pulled brass

Based on what I've read, never loaded a large cartridge like 7mm, I would work up a test/plinking load with the existing primers. Think of it as forming the brass to your chamber. Then neck size and shoulder bump from then on and work up your final load for accuracy.

    For New Reloaders

The four stages of competence: 1. Unconscious incompetence 2. Conscious incompetence 3. Conscious competence 4. Unconscious competence Stage 1 is the guy you need to watch out for, because he doesn't know what he doesn't know and will blindly move forward into disaster. Stage 2 is the...

New to reloading - I have lots of questions!

Welcome to THR. From your post I get the impression that you're an organized, methodical, details oriented person. This is perfect for reloading. I'm going to also assume that you have mechanical skills to one degree or another. You will need them, whichever press you get. Given this, I see...

    Should I reload?

If you want to do it because you enjoy it: Yes. If it's to save $ on common ammo: Yes if time is free and you shoot a lot, No otherwise. If it's to save $ on expensive ammo: Yes if you shoot enough of it. If you want to make something special: Yes. I load 300BLK both supers and subs for an AR...

    Resizing Lubricant...Anyone make their own?

doubleh, I kind of agree with you. It's kind of like the argument about reloading 9mm with factory ammo prices as they currently are. If you include your time it's not worth reloading it. The pluses as I see them are that I like to make stuff, I get to make it to my specifications, and the...

    Resizing Lubricant...Anyone make their own?

I use 6ml of lanolin oil in 100ml of 99% isopropanol, that's about a 16.5 to 1 ratio. I like the high ratio because it allows me to spray more for better coverage without over lubing. I too use the plastic bag method, but only with pistol brass. I spray the inside of the bag first and press...

    9MM JR headstamp

Boxer primed are the real deal. Just watch out for those WWF/WWE's, they're for entertainment purposes only.

    Dillon 650 Primer Stop Switch

+1 Then replace the provided screw with a very long one, threaded in from the other side. Experiment with some vinyl tubing pressed over the exposed end of the screw to get a friction fit with the screw and ramp. Depending on the tubing, you may need to increase the diameter of the screw a bit...

Ordering hazmat while living on base

Which shipper gave you trouble? I've not had a problem doing it on the UPS website and got no grief from the staff at my local UPS office. (It does have to be a depot office, not a UPS store.) Maybe they've changed their policy recently, my last Hazmat shipment was 6 months ago. I guess...

Ordering hazmat while living on base

I can't speak to on base delivery. Here's another option if all the easy stuff fails and you have a UPS office/depot near by. FedEx will not hold hazmat shipments for pickup, so you have to use UPS. First, create a UPS web account. The name and address you use on the account must match your...

First time reloading, Primer went off in the press

Don't let this put you off on crimped brass. If you're working with range brass the crimp and sealer is best indicator you've got for once fired. I like the Hornady reamer linked above. The bit part will screw into a short Hex standoff that I chuck in my drill press. It makes quick work of...

    Something wrong here

I too mark the powder on the hopper. My procedure is to only work from 1# containers (factory labeled), refilled from the 8's. That limits any mix ups to 1#, powder is never put back in an 8. Each 1# has an additional tape label that is removed and placed on the hopper and the 1# remains on...

    Which progressive press?

Best advice I can give is to get to know some other reloaders with different presses. Ask them if they will demo and let you put hands on.

Additionally, when shooting at steel targets with plated bullets you don't get sharp copper jacket material bouncing around.

    Weighing for squibs

I once did a run of about 200 9mm and when done found an issue that COULD have resulted in a squib. Realizing that brass weights differ, sometimes wildly, I separated the run by headstamp to weigh them. Not all of each headstamp are the same, so I separated by any variation in the printing or...

Berry's 124 gr. hbfp-tp load data with cfe pistol

For a given bullet weight, the most important variable in seating the bullet is the internal case volume remaining when the bullet is seated. OAL is just a proxy for that because it's easy to measure. (This assumes you're off the lands and all else is equal.) The berry's HB bullets may be...

    Moving up to Blue...worth it?

Many of those parts you probably won't need for years, some maybe never. Some are just because they tend to get lost. I've had 2 Case Insert Slide Springs, and one Casefeed Arm Return Spring break. The primer Indexing Arm Spring was on it's way to failure, but I saved it. The Case Insert...
