    Casting lead bullets.

Thanks guys. Im actually thinking about just getting a good ladel i can melt in and poor from all at once. I saw one that would be really meat for a possibles bag. It was cast iron and formed a kind of corck screw for the handle. You could take any stick that was the right size and put it in for...

Lots of shoot'n on Hell on Wheels tonite

Usually, or atleast the way i have seen it done, is the cross draw is drawn first with the strong hand, fired, holstered, and then the strongside is drawn and fired. Ive also seen it done where the cross draw is drawn and fired with the strong hand, teansfered to the support hand to be holstered...

    THR Remington 1858 Club

Okay guys heres mine. Not fancy but ive broke her in real well. Navy Arms 1858 Remington C&B. Its been a project gun and an intro to cap and ball. Im now eyeing a stainless uberti 1858 for christmas. Lol. That with a black grip would be SWEET in my opinion.

.36 cal cap and ball powerfull enough for CAS?

Thanks for all the input guys. I have a 1858 remington but was thinking about picking up a navy or two to try. I never thought id like the remmy as much as i do. Colt replicas are light but a remington feels better to me for some reason. Plus the .44 is historically accurate and makes a bigger...

Pietta 1858 Remington front sight fell off.

Lots of shoot'n on Hell on Wheels tonite

The way it was explained to me is basic holster evolution. It went from the calvary flap style with a twist draw. To a cut away flap holster (slim jim style) cross draw. To a strongside slim jim style. The buscadero rigs we see in classic westerns were really a hollywood thing mostly. Just like...

    Casting lead bullets.

Thanks guys. This is what i was wanting to know. Ill prolly stick to roundballs first so itll be a bit easier, but i do want to make my own conicals at some point. One other question, do yall melt your led over a fire in like a cast iron pot? Or use one of those electric smelters?

    Casting lead bullets.

Hey guys im wanting to get into casting my own conicals for my C&B revolver. Ive been looking the whole process over and just had a quick question. When it talks about flux for the lead ive seen people say candle wax is what they use. My question is could i take a candle that i have at my house...

.36 cal cap and ball powerfull enough for CAS?

So i was just curious if anyone on here uses 1851 navy in 36cal for CAS? Is it powerfull enough to knock down plates? The reason i ask is i was reading the handbook and it had a side note saying the 36 might not be enough to knock down the plates. Just wanting to hear from anyone who uses them...

38/357 or 45 colt for SASS?

Thanks for all the info guys. I currently only have a cap and ball remington. And have considered just doing cap and ball. However since you have to have a rifle anyways i want to go with a cartridge revolver. Just less stuff to pack and deal with. I have a bunch of 38spl brass and about 100...

Pietta 1858 Remington front sight fell off.

Idk how to go about soldering it sinc it sets into the barrel instead of on top. Unless you mean to get a bead in there and place the sight like i did with jb weld.

Pietta 1858 Remington front sight fell off.

Anyone else ever had this happen? I got done cleaning it and went to put it in the safe. Barely, and i mean barely, tapped the sight against a shelf and it just fell in the floor. Looks like it rusted/broke out. Is this common? Ive got it curing in JB weld right now hoping to remedy the problem.

38/357 or 45 colt for SASS?

Guys im tore. I want to get into SASS and CAS but i dont know what calober to go for. I already have reloading equipment for 38/357 and the cost to shoot is much better than 45 colt. But 45 colt is more original and that is a big part to me. Anyone out there who shoots CAS/ SASS that can weight...

So guys what is the key to keeping my cylinder from locking up after cleaning? TwicE now the day after cleaning my cylinder pin is rusted and my cylinder is locking up. I clean using hot soapy water just like i have for years. And i use rem oil on the whole thing when finished. This is my first...

    1858 Remington Gunsmithing Questions.

Guys just wanting to throw out an update. Finally got a chance to completely strip the revolver. First time and it was quite enjoyable. Lol. Anyways, the mainspring was tapered in every sense of the word but it was a little rough. Everything else on the other hand was so gunked up and nasty it...
