Browning Light Twelve Auto 5 Pin Removal

Thank you again for the help. I received the new pins and installed without any issues. I would like to share a tip that I used to make reinstalling these pins seamless - spray can extensions. In this particular application they fit better than toothpicks with the added benefit of bending out of...

Browning Light Twelve Auto 5 Pin Removal

Excellent write-up. I reinstalled the carrier latch last night with the remaining original pin. Patience is key. I've used toothpicks and Qtip shafts as guides on many projects. They are a great help.

Browning Light Twelve Auto 5 Pin Removal

Great info. I did not have any problem removing the carrier latch pin. It came out with room to spare. The magazine cut off and cartridge latch pins hit the top of the receiver so I stopped driving. I guess there is a chance that they were close enough to releasing that they would have begun...

Browning Light Twelve Auto 5 Pin Removal

I am working on an old Browning Light Twelve Auto 5. I have run into a problem with removing the pins that hold the Magazine Cut-Off and the Cartridge Stop. When I attempted to drive them out from the bottom they touched the top of the receiver before they could be released. My solution was to...

    American Gunsmith June 2020

The article on the Stevens 301. I would surely appreciate it.

    American Gunsmith June 2020

I am looking for an issue of the June 2020 American Gunsmith magazine. Even being a subscriber they do not offer back issues. Does anyone happen to have this issue or know where it could be found?

    Stevens 301 Diagram

Nothing wrong with the gun. It's a new purchase the owner wants cerakoted. I just spoke with a gunsmith I know and I asked his advice - he suggested that I punt on this one. The $250 gun is not worth the potential trouble (ie safety first) it could cause. I'm tending to agree.

    Stevens 301 Diagram

I was just brought a new Stevens 301 single shot that needs to be disassembled. I am "assuming" the trigger assembly and receiver parts are very much like the H&R and NEF shotguns but would like to see what is in there before I start punching pins. Anyone have any experience with these or have a...

    Cerakote removal

Blasting should take it right off. Start out at 50 psi and work your way up to remove the Cerakote. I prefer the 100-120 garnet for less dust.

    MGW 307 Sight Pusher Question

It's not listed as one of the P series that works with this pusher so I would guess no. I remember reading in another forum some time back that the 365 will NOT work with this pusher.

Old Rock Chucker Proof Marks Stamp?

Both my Rock Chucker and Reloader Special are stamped 1978. The RC has an A3 casting stamp and the RS has an A6H on the opposite side. This “A3” stamp has nothing to do with the A3 press. I believe the A2 and A3 had it cast on the front of the ram guide in big letters just like RCBS and RC was...

Old Rock Chucker Proof Marks Stamp?

I have an old Rock Chucker. While I was working on it the other day I noticed some stamped proof marks on the right hand side near the base. Very subtle and mostly filled with coating. This particular stamp reads A3 and I was wondering what these stamps refer to? I am posting a picture I...

    5.56 Home Defense Reloads

10.5” .223 Wilde heavy barrel on an AR-15. This not for target shooting. It was made for tight quarters - like inside a home. For control, the heavier barrel helps to compensate for its length.

    5.56 Home Defense Reloads

I’m doing this for an AR15 rifle (5.56) with a 10.5” barrel and a forward facing flash suppressor. It’s not my first choice for indoor home defense but built it as an additional choice for my wife. The first choice is either my Mossberg 590A1 or my 45 - whichever I can get to first. I may be...

    5.56 Home Defense Reloads

I know I can do that already - I think you’re missing my point. Is a frangible preferred over a hollow point? Less powder? Etc. I have everything I need to do this except for a particular .223 bullet so I don’t mind spending a little time setting this up.

    5.56 Home Defense Reloads

I have built an AR primarily for my wife to use for home defense. It's a heavy little thing - 10.5" bull barrel with a forward ported flash supressor. I plan on working up some reloads for home defense purposes (indoors) and I'm looking for some thoughts on the matter. Bullet/Powder combos...

    Your "Go-to" pistol powder

Since powder in our area became hit or miss a few years ago I decided to go with Unique for my pistol loads (9mm, 45 acp and 44mag) and 4895 for all of my rifle loads (.223, 30-30, .308, 30-06, 7.62x54r). Loaded up on those powders when I could and stopped worrying about trying to locate...
