Have been very busy with side job. Some interesting things I will definitely come back and read (and yes I spelled definitely correctly). BTW for those of you who have never seen any Steyr pistols (S, M, L, 9, 40, 357, -A1 or not) they all have CIP proofing stamps on the slide and barrel and...
It looks like I really want to get down to finding out how different types of piezo sensors work, and if the SAAMI method of "adding" the case expansion pressure should be considered accurate for my purpose of eventually getting 125gr @ 1450. I will have to reload because sadly Underwood no...
[For short version, read only the middle paragraph]
Hey everyone it's been a while.. and some things have happened and I finally got a pair of now-discontinued Steyr M357-A1, because two is one, and one is none. I had a lot of fun last weekend breaking them in with 500 rounds of S&B 140gr...
I third that. Would probably try to flip it for some cash to feed my M357-A1 ... Not going to apologize to Glock fans because one less Glock for me equals one more for y'all :D
I guess 300-400 is fair.
Custom molded earplugs do sound good. The vented versions (possibly paired up with electronic earmuffs) would be awesome since I want to hear normal conversations too. Custom = expensive but I should really look into that. What I particularly liked is Protect Ear (found them on the first page...
Recently I noticed my ears ringing very very slightly for about ~5 seconds after every shot of 357Sig at my local indoor range - which has pretty looking sound dampening materials on the wall and ceiling. So in my short journey of searching for best earmuffs to wear on top of earplugs, I came...
Four figures sound better than 20k/barrel, hahaha.
I did not know that wow, I thought since the CNC machines are there, all they had to do is 3D-scan one, touch up some measurements and press "go" ...
At this point it sounds cheaper to buy as many guns I can and use them as parts gun hmm...
... I don't know if I should be offended hahaha. I already called to make sure(?) that they do not sell or even produce M357 barrel.
I would like to know options in making (copying a brand new) barrels as I've explored and have not found anyone who produces them.
No it's M357. And I believe there is a definite advantage in having one gun with a spare barrel, than have one pristine gun that I never shoot and a beater I don't know where to get parts from. Are you implying even copying a brand new barrel would cost substantially more than the retail cost of...
I am looking around to see if there is a company who makes custom barrels. In my case I would send in a new barrel, and would want them to make a couple carbon copies of the barrel I provided. I think it's my only option if I want spare barrels for a gun the manufacturer no longer produces...
^ Living up to your username I see :D thanks for carrying my original curiosity to the next level! Makes so much more sense. Mmmm more reading more studying.
Golden,
I included the quote to give everyone an idea of the timeframe/technology at the time when they considered 180gr @ 980fps sufficient. My question was not, "why 10mm is best". My question was, "If they were trying to only do 180gr@980fps, does it matter if it's fired from 10mm...
^ Why are you bringing in caliber war,, your point? We all know (or can easily access) the history and the whole start of "we need a stronger cartridge" was kind of stupid. Thanks for the reminder I guess.
tl;dr but you and my quote actually AGREES that 357 is good. I don't know why you're...
Except there's no 9mm gun that can safely spit out 1400fps all day.
I guess I'm just surprised(?) to find out that FBI "developed" a 10mm for ONLY 980fps because I used to look at my compact gun and say "Heh it's a 10mm Short and Weak" but now it looks like a lean version of 10mm with less...
Hello everyone, I was reading up on some ballistic information in attempt to convince myself out of buying a midsize 357sig gun when I already have a 40SW (sub)compact gun. No I can't swap the barrel, they don't make it. :( Since I have a 40, I paid close attention to its performance...
