If you hit some of the re-sale sites or google “used youth stock for Mossberg 88” you might come up with a good solution at a reasonable price. Not as cheap as cutting, but a nicer solution in the end.

the New Haven 600AT isn’t the grandfather of the Mossberg, it is a Mossberg 500. It was a private label version, I believe the one my dad bought in 20 ga. in the mid-70s was purchased at Montgomery Wards.

I remember shooting my great uncle’s 1887. It had a bad habit of firing as soon as the lever was closed. While I would guess that it is fixable, right now it is just a wall-hanger.

I’d have to agree WRT Remington. I’d not be comfortable spending that kind of money on a gun from a company that may not be around tomorrow. I also agree it’s a shame because the gun itself seems to get very good reviews.

I think DocRock probably got the best answer for your question. If you find a Mossberg 500, Mossbrg 590 or Maverick 88, use an 18” barrel and a youth stock, you will be at ~31” OAL. You moight have to switch either the barrel or the stock on the one you find though. I’d guess it would be easier...

It may or may not be against the law (firearm laws, export or import regulations, etc.). Many sellers aren’t attorneys and just don’t know so they don’t want to risk what could be significant issues (fines, forced business closure or prison time) just to sell one or two items.

If I were to get one, I’d be looking at the TAC-13. It may reduce the recoil a little.
