Ok I'll try resetting the die and not use the Lee FCD, I guess I don't really need it anyway if the Hornady does the job to start with. This is all good stuff and I appreciate the help and any and all advice.

wow that looks clean compared to mine, I think my die was to tight or something it put a death grip on my case and scared it up as well, I didn't think I was going to get it back out and had to use considerable force to get it out. I ordered some 452 so I'll try resetting the die again I think...

Thanks for setting me straight on that, I have ordered some 452 RNFP projectiles that will probably work better in the case and a bullet resizer for the 454. Do you know which is the proper crimp for a 45 colt a Tapper or Roll Crimp?

Yes the Hornady does seat and crimp at the same time with a taper crimp and I thought I had it set but when I started to lower the bullet after crimping, the die had a death grip on the bullet case and I thought it was stuck up into the die causing me to apply a lot of force to get it back out...

When you say the bullet is seated a hair to low do you mean the bullet is to deep? I know it should be obvious but I want to be sure I understand, Thanks

My first try at seating a bullet or using the Press. Here is 2 pic's of the first bullet I tried seating after I set up the reloading dies, please tell me what's wrong with the crimp if anything and the casing, it seems to have a bulge at the top and a little more to one side then the other...

The polyfill was just to keep the powder close to the primer and avoid getting a misfire because bullseye and red dot is so small of a flake and the powder being position sensitive, but your right I doubt I will notice the difference since I am new to reloading and I probably am overthinking it...

Thanks, I plan to try the 200gr and the 255gr however the only good recipe I have right now is for Red Dot and the 200 gr projectile. I cant find any of the other powders that might be a better choice they all seem to be all sold out. I do have some Bullseye but it is not my first choice of...

45 LC Oregon Trail 200g RNFP Bullets (500) probably order some 430 or 455 gr also but I was playing it safe I think by starting with a light bullet and a light load and of course trying to avoid a squib.

I will have the Lyman 49th edition and the Lee 2n edition soon they are on the way. Ok yes I will read those links and learn all I can from them and the books as well and I think I'll get the Hornady 9th edition too. Thanks for the great advice.

Yea I have everything I need but I am waiting for the reloading manuals and some bullets to arrive I have already bought the the other elements needed like primers and powders and brass.

I totally agree and understand why caution would be a concern to handing out advice, I am a cautious guy and will do my best to avoid mishaps for sure I need both my hands. lol Any advice will be appreciated and used along side all reloading manuals, is there another good source of learning...
