    1911 load question

Your correct. He would not have had HPs in country. But when we were police that was our preferred off duty carry. Still is my ccp. He has passed a few years ago. Where he is there is no need.

    1911 load question

He did but I don't recall why, I think it helps feed out of a full mag. I just do it, I respected him and his wisdom. Couple of tours in 'Nam and always spoke the truth.

    1911 load question

I load my 1911's with a hollow point in the chamber then a hardball in the top of the magazine followed by the rest hollow points. A Retired Marine SgtMaj said if I'm carrying a 1911 that's the way to load it. I've always carried like that after he said to do it that way. Anyone else carry like...

SAA malfunctions for him but not me

Well something I've noticed with my peitta that if it's not fully cocked (4clicks) it looks like it's fully cock and I can still pull the trigger and it will drop the hammer. Maybe that's the cause as you said he's not as familiar with SAA pistols as you are

    S&W lock removal

Yes, but the mag safety is there so if you are in a fight for control of the pistol you can drop the mag and your not going to be shot with your own gun. I had an Israeli browning high power

    S&W lock removal

The lock is not a safety as such. It's just to keep an unwanted person from pulling the trigger. Much like a padlock as it needs a "key" to unlock it I personally would never remove a factory safety for liability reasons.

    Opinion needed

I have a S&W 1937 Brazilian export/import (1917) 45 ACP. Have an itch to cut the barrel back and put a new sight on it. My LGS where I bought it said that would amount to blasphemy. What would the collective opinion be?
