    Impulse buy, Ruger 95

If it weren't Christmas day I'd be envious. If it weren't Christmas day.. Christmas Day... Oh well, I'm envious.

    What is a "common" cartridge?

A 'common' cartridge is a non-aristocratic one. Ask any Brit.

Do I Need to Resize This Brass Again?

Well jeez, at least clean the dies now. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, ain't it?

Confession time: guns we can't shoot

I can't shoot a Ruger LCP. Can barely hang onto it when it fires, say nothing about hitting the target.

Ruger SR9 vs. Ruger American Pistol

If there were an SR45c I'd have one. I have an SR40c, and like it fine for CCW - except it's a 40, and would permanently deafen me if I fired it in my home in an SD scenario. The RAP compact ain't so very compact

    Handload 9mm or .45 Auto?

Starting out with 38 Special also (should) develop and reinforce the habit of 'peeking for powder' in the case before seating the bullet. A plinking charge of Bullseye is way down in the case.

Picking up an M1 Garand in 10 Days: what should I know

You've handled your dad's so you know that it's heavy enough so you are aware of its presence after a 10 mile hike.

    Handload 9mm or .45 Auto?

I use a Rockchucker (single stage press), which may be why I can't choose an 'easier' for any reason except visibility of the powder in the case. The other-side quibble is caused mostly by the presence on the market of 1911 clones that don't like any bullets that ain't round-nosed; but that...

    Bigfoot vs kore gun belts???

I've worn a Bigfoot steel core every day for a year or so, carrying and otherwise. It does the job and has no wear marks. I'm guessing it would be a hassle at airports, but I don't go there anymore.

    Take this, cover me!

Hah. Gotta keep both guns. That guy is no help. Scared crapless of both the situation and the gun? Worse than a hang fire.

    Strikers on the Nightstand

I have to sleep on my back with the head (and foot) of the bed raised enough to make "turning over" extremely unlikely. An S&W Shield 45 sleeps beside me, cartridge chambered and thumb safety engaged.. Before she came a Ruger SR40c was my bedmate. She snored too loud.

I want to want a Smith & Wesson

If you are willing to accept the usefulness of 38 Special +P for SD use, the Model 10 should be OK with them. Model 10 turn-ins are still showing up in the used market at reasonable prices. Up to dash 8 anyway, they can be classified as 'not new manufacture'.

What firearm(s) have been in your family for the longest time?

One of my brothers traded for a Winchester Model 61 in the early 1930s. It's in my gun cabinet now.

Just Inherited A Colt Model 1905 In 45 ACP

That's the 2nd 'gifted' 1905 I've seen on a gun board in the past week (the other'n is a 32 ACP). Didn't notice before that there is no safety(?)

Girsan MC28 SAC--great new pistol find

Girsan had 1911 clones on the US market a few years back (good, well made guns) imported by - maybe, my memory sucks - EAA and serviced by Bud's GS. Anyway, Girsan lost their importer then too. Importers are a flighty lot. Same thing happened to Grand Power (Slovakia), dropped by Century Arms a...

That inexpensive, yet intriging, gun I kept passing up.

If you want to go one step up in price range, the Bounty Hunter EAA imports from Germany is a step up in build quality too. I have the 8-shot 'convertible' 22, and am impressed.

What do you do when you find you're not alone?

No poisonous snakes at all in my area; very few in the state. I've read about water moccasins' "unfortunate attitude", and would kill them as a precautionary measure on sight. I think it's safe to say that not all of God's critturs get along. Bob, I am a member of another gun forum, where 'leg...

What do you do when you find you're not alone?

Hey, water moccasins are God's critturs too.

What's the best choice for a defensive round in 40 S&W

    I consider 180gr too heavy for the 40S&W; it's a 10mm bullet. I like the Sig-Sierra 165gr round.
