    Your favorite handgun

I’ve been mesmerized by the 1911 for as long as I’ve been shooting. It’s my favorite - by far. It was my first handgun purchase back in 1974 and has never ceased to lose it’s edge with me. For almost as long, I’ve favored the Colt Lightweight Commander models and my favorite among them would...

Bond Arms Derringer 45LC/.410 Trigger Pull

This is/was on Bond's site and almost too simple not to try. It was recommended that instead of pulling the trigger straight back, you instead exert your pressure more towards a "5 o'clock" pull. Basically just a more downward (and backward) pull.

    Your choice for pocket pistols?

Look into the Colt Mustang Pocketlite. We now have several. For us it has more things going for it than most choices in this class.

NYPD Calls it Quits on Wheel Guns

I wonder about those who still prefer stubbies as back-ups . . .

    comparing Rugers

I would go with the Security Six, hands down. Their near-perfect weight and superior toughness have endured them to many over the years. I’ve had Smith & Wessons, Colt’s and even a Freedom Arms 83, either wear-out to the need of repair, malfunction, or actually break on me. I’ve also owned five...

    S&W J Frame?

I do understand your wish for the economy of using your already available ammo, there is at least one other consideration. For what I feel would be a boost in "terminal effectiveness" I personally would want my J-frame in a revolver round like .38 Special. In .38 Special you can choose bullets...

    Security/Speed Six Prices

Hey, no doubt some here own a firearm or two for aesthetic reasons. That said, I believe most who extol the virtues of the "Six" series Ruger revolvers here are fairly serious and experienced users of the genre.

    Security/Speed Six Prices

I agree with Confederate on the “skinny” barrel Security Sixes. They weren’t made for too long before the heavier-barrel model started rolling out, so they’re almost a well-kept secret these days. I’d personally place the stainless, 4-inch (skinny barrel) Security Six in that proverbial “what’s...

CC a small revolver - why?

For me it's about bullet type. I feel most comfortable with bullet that has a cutting shoulder at these (generally) reduced velocities.

A Little Help Here... Pocket CCW

My take on it would be an LCR or S&W J-frame for you. There you have your primary concern of reliability covered well. It's also my choice due to the fact that I can carry bullets with a cutting-shoulder on them. At short-barrel numbers, that's important to me for effectiveness.

What are your gun plans for 2016?

To finally get a good set of AR BUIS. Then round-out some needy magazine and ammo areas while prices are still sane. If the situation permits, look into a stainless Ruger Bisley Blackhawk in .45 Colt as my first pure hobby/luxury firearm; a wholly un-needed piece, to reload for ... and just...

Israeli LEO retiree: IMI Jericho 941FL

I like it. Wonderfully "used" look, and I mean that in a good way. Mostly classic lines, and few break-in rounds required! Enjoy ... and thanks for sharing.

    Ankle Holsters

Agree on the inside, left leg position. I carried ankle for over 10-years. I would never want more weight than an airweight J-frame. The rig responsible for me even considering carrying there, was a Ken Null "ANK" model. No retaining strap, but I felt I could run a marathon with it. It...

Buy or Pass on Korean Glock mags?

I tend to concur with many here that would go with factory mags for one reason or another. The current friendly prices on them seems to be the main motivator. While I have used both Korean and factory mags in several sizes with equally good success, I just FEEL better (on all counts) with...

OK, OK!... I get it. Security Sixes rock.

DF, one again you have me in “covet” mode with those special revolvers. I believe my favorite 4-inch Security Sixes are the earlier ones; the version before they went to heavier barrels. While the weight difference may only be a few ounces, for a duty/field revolver - they carry like a...

OK, OK!... I get it. Security Sixes rock.

Whoa! Rock more . . . ? While I believe your GP does ‘rock” in it’s own way, (and I DO covet it) it’s certainly NOT a very common example of the GP line. It’s the more or less rare 3” version with a desirable tweak or two. That said, I have a Speed Six that has a very similar...

Many thanks! You've given me new directions to try to pin-down some further info on an elusive (for me) one.
