Justice Kennedy to retire, Trump can solidify court's conservative majority

I thought that was settled in McDonald vs Chicago, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald_v._City_of_Chicago .

    The Essentials

1 - Some form of 12ga. A pump is an excellent choice, but personally I prefer SxS doubles. Simple, reliable, with a built-in spare if something breaks. 2 - A.22 rifle. My preference is a scoped bolt gun. Rugged and accurate. 3 - A .357 magnum revolver. I like a S&W 686+. Broad range of...

NRA Supports Ban on Bumpfire Devices

Since practically any semi auto rifle can be bump fired without any modification or accessory, your way of thinking would logically lead to banning all semi auto rifles.

    Carry on a motorcycle.

I pocket carry a P32. I ride sport bikes, and any bigger gun is too uncomfortable to carry. I had my P32 in my pocket when I went down a few years ago and it didn't cause any extra problems.

Will the Hearing Protection Act open up for buying Silencers over the counter like scopes or slings?

Hope this goes through. I don't particularly care about suppressors for the range, since I'll still have to use hearing protection due to other shooters. I really REALLY would like to have a suppressed house gun, though. If (God forbid) I ever have to shoot an intruder, I'd just as soon not...

John Ross for Director of BATFE in the Trump Administration

My preference would be to turn the BATFE into simply BAT. Maybe BATM (alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana) at the most. WTH alcohol and tobacco have to do with firearms, other than being a great weekend, is puzzling at best. Let's reduce government, and start by eliminating the firearms piece of...

John Ross for Director of BATFE in the Trump Administration

While JR would be good, I think I'd rather have Henry Bowman....

Cheapest handgun you would trust for defense...

I have a Rossi M68, .38spc, 3" barrel, stainless. Picked it up in a pawn shop for $175. Near perfect condition and is as tight as my wife's S&W. It shoots great and is one of my regular carry guns. For someone on a tight budget, a used wheel gun in .38 could be an excellent choice...

Opinion Change - Safety Course Should Be Required

We need to look for non-Gov't ways to address concerns like this. And we need to look for simple things that are partial solutions, rather than going after complex all-encompassing solutions that are doomed to fail. I see no reason firearms retailers, on their own and with cooperation from...

I've seen "Time to feed the hogs!" a couple of times. (Henry Bowman / Unintended Consequences reference.)

CCW in Places of Worship or Faith Based

As many have said, check your local & state laws, but check thoroughly. Even if there's no prohibition on church carry, there may be a prohibition on "school" carry. If your church runs a school, a kindergarten, a nursery school, or even a Sunday school, some DA may decide the school...

Growing number of police chiefs, sheriffs join call to arms

Actually, it's "Sheriff" Judd, not "Chief." He's our county sheriff, and we support him strongly down here. Unfortunately, he's voiced some opposition to open carry. He's a strong supporter of armed citizens in general, though.

    China Cabinet Repurpose

Very pretty! You did a great job. I've always stored my long guns muzzle down, however, to keep oil in the barrel from weeping into the action and stock. Any particular reason you went muzzle up?

Rep. Trey Gowdy Grills DHS Official on Due Process

Last I heard, he had decided not to run for re-election in 2016. If true, it's a pity.

anti-anxiety drugs, and right to own firearms

I'm not aware of any legal concerns, but as a practical matter you might want to avoid carrying or using guns until you know how your body will react to the medication and has adapted to it. Some of those meds, when you first take them, can cause dizziness, confusion, or other problems, and...

    Straw purchase? SORRY

I think my question would be, "Why doesn't the buyer want to go through an FFL?" Just to save a lousy $15 or so? Seems like a lame reason. Maybe, maybe, it doesn't have to go through an FFL but it certainly could be done that way, and the fee would be a lot less than you'd pay a lawyer to...

A good response would have been, "And here you'll never see Chicago's murder rate."

Shooting and Drinking at a BBQ?

Policing individuals will be difficult. Why not just pick a time when the range will go cold? No drinking while the range is active, but at 2:00 (or whenever) all shooting stops and those who want to pop open a beer are free to do so.

    Russian Makarov C&R Question

Hmmmmm..... Frank, that's very interesting. I'd never really thought about this before. It seems to me that criteria 2, has some interesting possibilities, especially since there don't seem to be any age constraints associated with it. What does it mean to be "certified" by a...

Looks like some took the initiative - version 2

Offered for your consideration: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/07/22/navy-officer-murdered-marine-fired-back-at-chattanooga-gunman/ In the Chattanooga incident, it appears that two servicemen were armed and returned fire. They were armed in what appears to be a breach of regulations...
