You Asked For It, You Got It

Very interesting. Appreciate the knowledge. Doesnt suprise me those running the state will go to any length to limit and curtail folks legal rights, including defying court orders. There has been some great studies done about the history of gun control law in New Jersey, with similar parallels...

You Asked For It, You Got It

Do you know if this new NJ requirement is specific to one municipality or county or is intended as a statewide standard? Does it apply retroactively to those who were in the first tranche of permits granted ? Not a NJ resident anymore but still many family (all big 2A supporters and activists...

    Jeff Cooper's Personal Library

While doing some personal reading on some of Jeff Cooper's less known writings I found a reference to a catalogue of his personal library in an Excel format compiled I believe by Paul Kirchner. Sadly the link I found is broken and not sure of the current status of the site. I always enjoyed and...

    Home Defense | Thompson 1927A-1 vs AR15

I like shooting my Thompson- but as you observed- its a real pain to rack, heavy, and mags are pricey and sometimes not the most reliable. Mine is a dedicated fun gun and i'm glad i have it, but its not something that i would go to first or even second in a self defense situation.

    Old Timer Sharpfinger Field Use

One of my favorites and still use one on desert small game today. After retirement my dad ran a working class type bar and a lot of the regulars became like uncles to me. Aside from hunting season my family were not big shooters, and i learned handguns and reloading and general gun/life talk...

    Retro AR build newbie

Im looking to do a "retro" AR build in the next six months or so to complement my Troy XM-177 clone. This time around I would love to do a early M16A1 clone, '64-'67 variety with the three prong flash hider. I was originally going to take a look at the Brownells Retro line but they seem to...

New Holster For My Smith & Wesson K Frame

Wow- pretty cool. Great work. I have a set of 2", 4" and 6" inch barrel Model 15's i really need to invest in some quality gunleather for, all shoot far too nicely to spend most of their time in my safe.

    John Jovino NY

Very cool stuff. My grandmothers father was began in the NYPD but made a career switch over to the FDNY, retiring as an arson investigator in the 70s. Lived another 30 years well away from the city. Spent a lot of time growing up with him driving him back to his old haunts and taking long walks...

Picked up a nice 15-3 last week

Bought my Model 15 off a long retired lawman up in Northern Nevada towards the end of his life. The wear on the blueing in certain spots shows a long life of being carried and used but lovingly maintained. Liked it so much i bought a Model 15 snubnose and a K38 6 inch barrel to have the complete...

what in THE hell... someone explain this model 49+586 hybrid?

I've been cruising Gunbroker for a deal on a Model 49 and came across that earlier this week. Seems like a great way to ruin two classic Smiths...

What are you selling during this panic?

I feel pretty good about offloading a few rarely used handguns earlier in the year, which let me fund a few pieces I REALLY wanted. I sold a Magnum Research 1911 Commander and a CHP marked Smith 4006 for fair prices and managed to get pretty lucky on a LAPD marked Kimber TLE II, and a Langdon...

Have a Luger on the way.

Very cool. Fiocchi seems to do a small run of .30 Luger every year and i usually pick up a couple boxes for my .30L DWM. Its a light, fast and very accurate shooter and a lot of fun. That shortened barrel is pretty cool, i've seen photos in some of the collectors books of Georg Luger's personal...

Selling a Gun and People's Regrets: Why?

I got into collecting vintage Lugers before I honestly could afford it- ended up selling off a collection because I needed the money more than the guns. Taught a young guy some valuable lessons about financial responsibility and planning. The only things I view as totally off limits are my GI...

    The Gun Store

The Gun Store, Battlefield Vegas, Range 702, and American Shooters are all fun local rental ranges catering primarily to the visitor market, I believe they all rent full auto weapons and a variety of other firearms as well. I've shot at all of them (Las Vegas resident) from time to time. Its a...

Commemorative Thompson/Mitchell's Mausers K98: Suggestions on auction reserves

I agree with one of your observations- its definitely hard with most commemorative firearms to recoup what the original buyer invested. Best to hope for a fair price, and hope (and have a bit of patience) that a buyer who has always wanted that exact piece comes along. Having been in this...

    Model 15 Part 2

I received a Model 15 four inch barrel from an old friend who carried it as a lawman in Northern NV earlier this year and it quickly became one of my favorites. Couldn't stop there so acquired a 15 two inch from a shooting acquaintance here in the Las Vegas area and they make the perfect pair...

    Highwaymen, the movie

I seem to recall from a book i read some time ago (The Johnson-Sims Feud from the U North TX Library) that around the time of the first world war Hamer had married into a wealthy family, as i understand it that between that and more lucrative work he took on post-retirement providing security...
