Loading 223 with the components that I already have

This would be my suggestion as well. Buy an 8# jug of some ball powder like H335, AA2230, AA2520, TAC, Staball Match, CFE223, etc, and develop the load as best as you can with the FMJs. Basically in that burn range from about H335 thru CFE 223 will serve you quite well with 55 and 62 gr FMJs...

    Let’s talk vintage reloading presses

Holy crap, and I thought the Dillon shotshell loader was spendy. Looks fantastic though.

Crimp Swaging Die or Bench Mount Primer Pocket Swager

If youre insistent on doing it with swaging? Dillon Super Swage is probably the easiest single tool. Lee APP as @Varminterror is also an option, but really doesnt gain you a ton of speed until you add a case feeder. I still cut mine with a RCBS cutter, with a jig on my drill press, and its...

OK that thing is fricking awesome. Now I found another rabbit hole to go down :)

    Starline delivery time/delays

Its a gift for my son. This Bergara 30-06 is his hunting rifle, and while it shoots factory ammo pretty well, he wants better. So his rifle, his brass, his bullets. I told him Id put up powder and primers to test what works best, and once he has that, we can make sure I keep that on hand for...

    Starline delivery time/delays

I dont consider Norma and Nosler to be worth buying and certainly not worth it at $1.32 and $1.76 a case. Both of those brands have terrible primer pocket life, where you might get 3 firings and its trash. Id consider buying the Privi, but its probably not any better than Starline. I like to...

    Starline delivery time/delays

30-06 order in this AM. I was hoping I could just order, and get it, but Ive seen it on backorder status now for over 6 months. Hopefully the cases will show up before deer season.

    223 headstamp

I segregate LC for loads that Im chasing some level of accuracy in. Even year to year, LC seems to be fairly consistent, and gives decent results in the accuracy department. The rest of the commercial brass goes in a huge container and load blaster type ammo with middle of the road loads for...

    Lubricant for carbide dies?

Another vote for OneShot It's stupid simple, has zero risk of powder contamination and it's doesn't need to be tumbled off.

    New at annealing question

I have the AGS, and I run it with dual torches. It works quite well. As far as knowing much much? First just turn out the lights, or turn them way down so you can see the flame very clearly. Set annealer up to run fast, and just turn it down until the flame change from blue to orange happens...

Any Issues Ever Discovered with Small Pistol Primers in .45acp?

I've loaded 45 with both large and small primers. SPPs work fine. LPPs give a hair more velocity, maybe 15-25 more fps. Interestingly enough, SRPs in a SPP case have worked quite well, and seem to yield the same velocity as LPPs. For my own use? I prefer LPP brass as I have it at probably a...

I’m nearly at the end of my rope with my 308.

@thump_rrr Now I understand your frustration, but honestly with the time and amount of bullets/primers/powder youve put thru this rifle? A barrel change might be your best bet. You can keep trying and blow thru another $400-500 or more in components, or you can just buy a new barrel and be...

I’m nearly at the end of my rope with my 308.

RMR doesnt make a 308 caliber bullet, unfortunately. My AR10 would enjoy that :)

    Let’s talk die maintenance

I either hose them with red BrakeClean, or acetone, and a light scrubbing with Q-tips. Silicone spray or OneShot both seem to work well enough to keep them from getting rusty. I try not to use anything oily for my dies.

    Another disappointing die purchase

I put a couple small scratches in my Hornady 308 set over the years, which then caused some galling on the cases and brass on the walls of the inside of the die. I cleaned the die thoroughly with Brake Clean and copper remover, and then used toothpaste on a Scotchbrite in the drill to buff out...

    Another disappointing die purchase

I see everyone kinda piling on Hornady here, but everyone seems to forget that every company has an occasional QC issue slips thru the cracks. That includes the almighty Redding and Forster, and even the lowly Lee. The real question everyone should be asking here is did Hornady stand behind...

Is your measure gritty with H110?

That Lyman thrower for $57 is a steal. If I didn't have 3 Hornady throwers, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Is your measure gritty with H110?

Zero issues with gritty feeling with Hornady or RCBS throwers. No leaking either.

Loading Flat Bottom Bullets in .223 Cases

Yeah, I actually handle it 4 times. Just found it to the be the fastest way for me, but Ive but a ton of effort into streamlining the process to fact it fast and efficient. I use APP to decap because its stupid fast with a case feeder. I dont like dumping dirty brass into my LnL anymore, just...

Loading Flat Bottom Bullets in .223 Cases

I use 5 stations for rifle M-die Powder Bullet feeder Seater Crimper Not sure I'd want to try going straight from size/deprime directly to loading without knowing my brass length is good. Maybe could do it with brass that's been run thru an X-die I guess.
