Beretta 21A or Ruger LCP II?

Very early in my gun buying days (I'm a late bloomer -- didn't buy my first handgun until I was 50), I checked out a Beretta 3032 at the LGS. I liked it a lot but didn't end up getting one. Fast forward to the present: Having just received an unexpected bonus from work, I decided to splurge on a...

New KSD grips on CZ 83 - pics

Hello. I received a set of KSD rosewood grips for my CZ 83 for Christmas and just got around to installing them. The safety notches needed to be thinned with a file to allow the safety to go into the "off" position, but otherwise the fit is pretty good. I like the look, and they feel...

How many here didn't start shooting until they were an adult?

My dad wasn't a hunter, and though I had shot BB and pellet guns at an early age, he tried to start me on cartridge guns with a .30-30 before I was ready -- wound up gun shy as a result for many years. My college roommate got me into hunting, but I didn't get my first deer until I was 32. Kids...

    O-rings required for KSD grips?

Hello, all. I received a set of replacement wooden grips from KSD for my CZ 83. The screws on the pistol's stock plastic grips do not include o-rings. Question is, should o-rings be used for the wood grips? If so, where is a good place to purchase them?

Second season in a row without taking a deer...

I got skunked this year, too -- didn't see a single deer, buck or doe, that I could actually take a shot at. Including the two that I very briefly glimpsed this year, the grand total of bucks I have seen during five seasons of hunting on a private patch in South Carolina now stands at four. I...

    Picking an "heirloom" gun

Just for me. Just as in your case, this will be like Dad's last gift to me.

    Picking an "heirloom" gun

Nope. Probably should've explained in my first post, but the reason I put "heirloom" in quotes is because the firearm will be purchased out of my inheritance funds. It doesn't have to necessarily be heirloom quality. There's a gun show near me this weekend, so I might take a crack at option #4.

    Heritage Rough Rider

RRs can be bought as .22/.22 WMR combos, but the magnum cylinder can also be purchased separately. I have the combo with 4.75" barrel and birdhead grip -- nothing but good things to say about it.

    Picking an "heirloom" gun

Henry does not as yet offer the side-loading (as opposed to ejecting) Big Boy in .357. I agree the Win 92 is an excellent rifle, and if I were to find one at a show I'd be hard-pressed not to snap it up.

    Picking an "heirloom" gun

When my mother passed away in 2014, I used a small part of my inheritance to purchase my dream hunting rifle (the CZ 550 FS seen in my avatar). I think of it as "mom's gun," and it reminds me of her whenever I take it out in the field. My father passed away last year, and now that his estate is...

Shooting my CZ 75 PCR - got another question

I had another opportunity to take my new PCR to the range -- only the second time I have shot it and first time with the new G10 grips, so I really needed the practice. The first trip to the range produced groups that were low and left, which I worked to correct with some snap cap practice to...

My M&P Shield Magically Morphed into a CZ 75D Compact

Baby got new grips. After two attempts to contact KSD about their wood grips and getting no answer in reply, I decided to try out some G10 grips. These are the Sunburst/Coyote Color grips from CoolHand that come with screws, o-rings, and wrench -- not too bad. Just a hair long at the bottom of...

CZ 75 Compact/PCR Custom Grips: Tell Me If I'm Overlooking Anything

These ... drool, drool! They're made by KSD, but the photo was posted at a different site two years ago, and I don't see these listed in KSD's inventory anymore. I'm thinking I will send them an inquiry about getting them made anyway.

CZ 75 Compact/PCR Custom Grips: Tell Me If I'm Overlooking Anything

Okay, now that I have my PCR and Boriqua holster, I'm continuing on my journey to make my "grail gun" uniquely my own. I intend in the near future to get it "tuned" for concealed carry, but that will have to wait a month or two (or three ...). In the meantime, I am thinking about grips. Here's...

My M&P Shield Magically Morphed into a CZ 75D Compact

My IWB holster from Alex Boriqua arrived yesterday. I followed Alex's instructions for breaking the holster in, and after one night of holstering the CZ in wax paper the fit seems just about right. I've never owned a holster like this one before, and my first impression out of the box, other...

Does anyone still use bolt action shotguns?

I was given a Savage Model 18 in 12 ga -- hard to beat that price! Since it had essentially zero resale or trade-in value, I used it for my first effort at refinishing a gun. I re-blued all the metal, stripped the old finish from the stock, stippled the fore end and grip with a Dremel tool, and...

Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR/.22 WMR Bird's Head 4.75" First Lead

I would like to point out that in my original post I clearly indicated that my motivation in buying this firearm was to obtain a "cheap plinker." I always do my homework before buying a firearm, and I read many reviews and opinions of Heritage revolvers before my purchase. I was fully aware...
