More reliable Remington or colt cast your vote n tell why

I picked "1858" Remington .44 caliber but it's a close call. I remember reading an interview in which Howlin' Wolf was asked who was the best blues guitarist of all time. He said there's no such thing as the best, you can only be one of the good ones. I think the Colt vs. Remington thing is...

    Unique Walker

A target version of the Colt Walker by Armi San Marco. I have no affiliation with the sale, I am just posting it because I thought it was unique and others might like to see it...

HELP! What nipples fit a Belgian centennial centaur?

I have two Centaure's, a 4xxx and a 9xxx. As I recall the nipples marked "fits original Colt's" from Track of The Wolf had the correct threads but the cone length was not necessarily ideal.

    What did Henry Lehmann mean

I have also read somewhere that the Trapdoor Springfield was called a needle gun due to the long firing pin.

    T/C Hawken trigger guard replacement?

Straw Hat, I like the finger hook part, I just don't like the little circle shape thingy at the end. It is actually a very functional trigger guard, I should probably just accept it. I was just thinking if there was something really easy, I could just drop it in and see if I liked it. I don't...

    T/C Hawken trigger guard replacement?

I have a T/C Hawken .45 cal that was a kit gun. I am not fond of the trigger guard shape. Are there any other trigger guards that are a drop in fit to the T/C Hawken? Something not quite so fancey.

Remington 1858, Navy, stainless, target, anyone wants it?

Mike B., aka Duelist1954, did a series of videos on Remington's which include descriptions of frame sizes. It's about an hour and a half but if you just want a quick pic there is a good side by side comparison about 20 seconds into part 3. part 1...

    Is a .38 Special S&W 686 possible?

"Was all the testing done with the same revolver, barrel, and ammo, but with the cylinders switch out?" That is a good question. To be honest, I don't remember the details. I just remember he said he shot a lot of groups, like 50 groups with each type of ammo. I go to his shop mostly to look at...

    S&W 686 vs. 686 Plus

Hi Styx. Yes I did! I got the 6 shot version. I chose the 6 shot partly because it seemed more traditional and partly because that was what they had at my local gun shop. So I was able to inspect the firearm before purchase and I was able to support a local business. Let me see if I can post a pic.

    Is a .38 Special S&W 686 possible?

Thanks for all the replies. I called Smith & Wesson and they said they can't do it. I just wanted it because it appeals to my sense of perfection. There is a tiny gun shop near me crammed full of old guns, ran by an older gentleman who used to shoot all types of competitions, muzzleloader...

    Is a .38 Special S&W 686 possible?

I have a recently manufactured Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum with 6" barrel. It is a great gun but I hardly ever shoot .357 Magnum. Mostly I shoot .38 Special at paper or steel targets. Does anybody know if it is possible to get a .38 Special cylinder for it? Would the S&W shop do it? Are there...

Market for match grade bp rifles and pistols

You know what I would like is some exact grip frames. Some of the repros are way off and some are pretty close but I don't think any of them are exact. I would really like 1851 Navy, 1860 Army and 1847 Walker grip frames with the exact size and shape of the originals but make them so they could...

    Cyl-Barrel alignment

I've got two guns like that. One is a Santa Barbara Remington .44 and the other is a Colt 2nd Gen 1851 Navy .36. Except on mine the misalignments are to one side not too low.

2nd gen 1851 navy f series pitted bore shooter

New nipples might help if the old ones are worn. I had a Remington repro by Santa Barbara that went from being average to outstanding after getting new nipples.

    Unknown Uberti Model???

I have seen barrels like that, with the weird step, on Gunbroker occasionally. Usually 1860 Army and I think they were Armi San Marco. I think they are just unfinished kit guns or poorly finished guns on which they didn't blend the contours. Just a theory.

Redding Profile Crimp Die and .44-40

Thanks to all for the replies. I haven't had much of a chance to get back to this thread. I think part of the problem might have been I was using mixed brass and/or putting too much crimp. It could also be my bullet casting is not the best, resulting in poor quality bullets. Some had fins, ect...

Redding Profile Crimp Die and .44-40

I made about 60 rounds of .44-40 reloads and even though I made a dummy round that chambered just fine, and I also checked the first several live rounds and they chambered fine, in the end I had about 20 rounds that would not chamber. I am assuming it was a crimping issue and I wrinkled the case...

Maiden voyage of the 38 long colt hollow base ideal mold

Very cool Blackpowderwarrior! What diameter is the hollow base bullet you are casting? I have a hollow base wadcutter mold from MP Molds that I use for .38 Special. It casts about .359".
