    Here we go.

OTOH OTOH -- assisted opening is available from Kershaw, Gerber, CRKT, etc. These offerings go on sale at Big 5 all the time for around $20. 440 stainless blades, stainless or G-10 scales. Nice thing about assisted opening is that they're lawful in Canada because the blade itself is the...

    Patch Knife

Just seems the perfect size and style for a decent patch knife. Neck knife not legal in this state -- unless worn outside shirt and visible. I've been using an "Old Hickory" paring knife -- which I cold blued and improvised a leather carry pouch. Patch knife just seems like one of those things...

Leaving a handgun in your car 24/7?

My experience is that guns in vehicles rust. You planning on stowing "cocked & locked" ??? Loaded ??? Common sense suggests that possession of a firearm means just that -- possession and control. You don't have that with the gun stowed in the vehicle.

    Remington 700 help?

Synthetic stock is more durable, takes the use dished out by hunting. I have Rem. 700 PSS, .308 Win. -- this is the bench rest gun, "sniper" -- heavy as a boat anchor. Synthetic stock does what needs to be done. It's NOT "Tupparware." For field use I prefer the Win. Stainless Classic Mod. 70...

Cold Hammer forged worth the extra $$?

"Wear through the chrome" is WAY beyond "shot out" for a barrel. Cold hammer forge affects the way the barrel vibrates, the way forge stresses set up in a barrel. Get the molecules all lined up the way you want them, and then let the barrel cool (hot forge) and the molecules are going to...

    "Rifleman's Rifle"

"Rifleman's Rifle" -- Winchester Mod. 70. I found a stainless classic in 30-06 Spfd. Leupold 40mm 3 - 9x duplex. Polymer stock, nylon sling, this is the one that gets slung over the shoulder out in the field, fishing, camping. Classic design, classic caliber. Yeah, as a matter of fact I do...

    9mm carbine selection need help

I have the Uzi carbine and Mini Machine Pistol, both Mod. 45 and 9mm / 45 ACP convertible. Unless you're pulling the trigger more than once, the 9mm is understated as a carbine caliber. Locally the .44 mag. Marlin 1894S is considered "the hillbilly assault rifle." 10 rd. lever action, short...

Does bolt action make a difference?

Depends on how the bullet leaves the case and engages the rifling -- If the bullet engages before it is centered on its long axis, it will wobble as it spins. Longer barrel will reduce this wobble somewhat.

Does bolt action make a difference?

I have a Rem. 700 PSS, in 308 Win. Match grade rifle, barrel, etc. Leupold Mark V scope, Jewel trigger. I've precision loaded ammo for this rifle using cheap .30 cal bullets. Cheap bullets go all over the place. They're not balanced, not weight consistent. 7.62 X 39mm does what it was intended...

    Authentic Colt Walker

"Authentic" derives from "author" "authority" -- the connotation being that "authentic" means it's "real." "Original" means "first source."

Kahr PM 9 vs. Kahr MK9

I have the MK9 Elite -- before Kahr offered the polymer version. It's flawless! I particularly like that it fits an stock Kahr extended mag, making it 7 + 1, and very smooth even trigger. The size of a .380 APC, and full 9mm. Much better balance, and less bulk than Glock 26.

Oregon SB 941 - universal registration on transfers

De Facto Registration Background check is de-facto registration. No provision for loaning my buddy a shotgun for a weekend of duck hunting. This is right in there with trying to regulate recreational marijuana -- which Oregon did without any effect whatever on the underground traffic...
