Had the old Davidsons Great Eight 22/45.
Shot good but couldnt score a newer frame back then to help the looks. 1st version was slick and hideous. Put a 2x Leupold on it and was fun at 100 yards. But so big and bulky I went back to a rifle.
The 5 1/2" bull bbl is proly my ideal field rig...
Had Mk1 and Mk2. No issues w.takedown.
22/45 can be a hassle sometimes.....learned the wiggle on those.
Id like a MK3 gripframe w a MK2 receiver and a non warning label barrel LOL.
Was gonna cost too much to assemble. So i got a Buckmark 5.5 .
The new Mk4 anniv target model looks tempting...
Higher end stuff gets put on the block too, but to lesser quantity ......and those that would look to purchase such are usually immune to economic cycles.
Im not a lever gun fan.
Have owned a few over the years.
Just not a fan.
The idea of a lever gun, as a handgun..............no thanks.
HOWEVER..........if its a gun ya want (for whatever reason), then buy it.
Life is short, have fun.
I had an 1100 Trap and the comb was reduced. Still clicked me now and then.
The weight made it a little more comfy than my 1100 Magnum.
However the Magnum never bopped my cheek and it cycled heavy target loads fine.......and old magnums came w recoil pads :)
I still have an 1100 and shot some...
Am not a collector or competition shooter.
Certainly am not wealthy.
While the Leupold Freedom series may be their "blue collar" line, I'd consider the VX3HD to also be in that realm.
75 yards for a hunting handgun, aint that far IMHO.
A pistol scope might make things harder.
I found a red dot on a Contender made things way easier.
Do think the "eagles" in rimfire and field pistol IHMSA to be a bit of a pain.
(75 yard turkey targets) LOL
Hold right, thumb left.
Always shoot SA with my Colt and Smith DA revolvers when hunting.
Kills me when I see Youtube "experts" hold and thumb w same hand (changing their grip in the process).
Can shoot OK DA, but N frames seem too big.
I also hunt/shoot with Ruger single actions, and there...
Grab a couple 10/22s and watch how folks will burn through a brick of CCI Blazer !
I need to grab some clay pigeons and another brick or two.
Good reminder!
Maybe overkill, but when fam wants to go to the range I take my old stuff for em to burn.
Try to rotate through. Keeps things more fresh.
Buddy gave me some #6 shotshells, high brass, for rabbit.
Old K mart sticker on one. Look fine. But man that price...........makes a guy wanna cry LOL
