carding with fine grit sandpaper is something I was told by a local a while back. Apparently he didn't go into enough detail with me about what he was actually talking about. Thanks for the additional info...I'm always learning something new about these guns. :)

Pocket Pistol and Original Colt .31 Mould

Mec, Any idea where I could find parts for the Remington pocket 31? I got one for Christmas and I think one of the legs of the cylinder bolt is too short. The bolt pops up too early and is dragging the cylinder. found one at vtigunparts for $11. Is this the cheapest I'll find?

    Lead Prices

I do the exact same thing. Good source for free lead, and it's pure and casts a really good round ball or conical. :) Beats the heck outta buying lead ingots.

Quote from my original post: I have a M91 (Russian- Tula 1891) myself. You'll love the M44, tough as nails and should be reasonably accurate. Cosmoline, Yep you're right, my mistake :o ...had that number 91 stuck in my head for some reason. Actual date of manufacture is 1897. Still, the...

    Magnum Caps

The magnum caps are designed to light off the substitute powders more reliably. CCI recommends theirs for that purpose on their website. http://www.cci-ammunition.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=3&pg=10&prod_id=28 In my experience, the #11 magnum works well to light off H777 which seems to...

Pietta cylinder bore vs. bbl bore

If the barrel isn't properly throated you may need to have that done, but otherwise I'd bet that this gun will be a shooter! :) Your lead will get plenty o grip on the rifleing as it passes through the barrel which should make it a very accurate weapon.

    Mosin nagant Pics

I’ll post pics later, but for now here’s another question for you guys. I have a Mosin M91, manufactured at Tula in 1897, (I’ll post pics of the marks if I can get a good shot of them), the gun itself is in good shape and shoots good but the stock is in pretty rough shape finish wise. Do I...

    Fun with H777...

I’ve used 777 off and on over the past year and at first it seemed inconsistent and prone to hangfire. In a discussion with Jule of bigiron barrels, he explained to me that the hangfires and inconsistent behavior under compression was actually an ignition problem and offered me a solution which...

Big Iron Barrels Group Buy: Anyone else not get their order???

Just in case it was missed on the forum... http://www.bigironbarrels.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=154 Keep in mind that custom work does not happen quickly. The type of work we have been asking bigiron to do is specialized for the most part and individual to the guns that we want worked on...
