What's the oldest (by date of manufacture) ammo you've fired or own?

When I got my first M1 Carbine, Korean-era .30 Carbine was plentiful and I bought a ton of it. There's only 1500 rounds left of that, so that means I've shot at least 2000 rounds of that 1950s ammo thru my various M1 Carbines with nary a hiccup.

    Bear creek uppers

I've always heard that Bear Creek was pure crap. But just before Covid shut down everything, I bought a BCA complete upper in 300 BO as a 5 year anniversary present for my kid. His wife said he'd been lusting after a 300BO but she couldn't find one anywhere. Neither could I, so went to my...

What shoots 30 Carbine besides an M1 Carbine

I believe the Automag III was chambered in .30 Carbine

    Companies with good customer service

I lost a CDS dial on one of my Leupold scopes last winter, and had misplaced the original dial. Called them, spent less than 5 minutes on hold, and two days later I had a new stock dial. What really surprised me was in about 2 weeks, I received a new CDS dial at no charge. I called out Henry...

Got my Pedersoli Sharps rifle yesterday!

Congrats on your Sharps, and may you enjoy years of pleasure shooting it! I have the Pededsoli Q Down Under, and it's deadly accurate - all 13 pounds of it. Even spicy .45-70 has minimal recoil in this beast.

    S&W 686 it's hard to beat

Mine too! I shot it in a ton of bullseye contests til I lost it in an ugly divorce. It was one of the first handguns I bought post-divorce too, but it was never quite the same.

Thoughts on these new Sig military rifles?

Yeh, glad I didn't have to hump one of these over some very rocky and sandy places.

What is you "Fun" gun choice?

Running my S&W 460 with .45 Colts. Finding someplace I can shoot my Barrett M107A1. Verifying zero on my Browning Hell's Canyon and retrieving a 100 yard target with one ragged hole. Every ping from emptying the clip in either of my M1 Garands. The way my Ed Brown Kobra Carry sits in my...

Anyone Get Black Nose From an Indoor Range?

During my misspent twenties, I remember coming out of Army shoot houses after 4 hours of exercises with blackface and tasting lead. The only ventilation on those was from doors and leaks in the ceiling. As an aside, that's where I began development of my military grade tinnitus. These days I...

    Weird/odd/unusually chambered guns

I have a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in 30 carbine. It makes a fun companion to my M1 carbines, and is remarkably tame.

    2022’s top 10

Is it bad that I have everything on that list except for the SA Xdm? All purchased before 2022.

Is anyone else getting spammed by nationalgunowner.org?

Yeh, NAGR is particularly guilty about spamming, especially if you've ever signed a petition or even worse have given them money. PSA: If you wanna donate, then donate to the GPA or the FPC or the 2AF.

    Wounding mechanisms

A pneumo isn't always immediately life threatening. You can have a slow leak and be only mildly symptomatic. Sometime lungs will develop a pneumo spontaneously, and it's not until we get a chest film that we see it. Closed pneumos are common with smokers, as well as with patients who have...

Antigunners are losing their minds over terminology

I wonder if the left has noticed that the CMP will ship a real, actual "weapon of war" right to your house in a nice case?

What the crap? (Post Gun Show Rant)

My son and I went to a fairly large show over the weekend. $15/head to get in the door. That wasn't nearly as bad is that I had to surrender my CCW to a "security guard" who cleared it and kept the magazine in a baggie with my name and a tag on it to be claimed when leaving, plus ran a zip tie...

Tell your funny gun story here

I was trying to remember any military gun related stories I could tell here, but everything that comes to mind just ain't fit for non-veterans to hear. Instead, here's one about the time I took my missus to the indoor pistol range to try out her new Glock. I'd rented two lanes. She was already...

    New Sig 365XL owner...

I out the Hogue grip sleeve on my XL the week Hogue finally released them. Like all Hogue sleeves, it took a bit of work and swearing to get it in place. It fits perfectly, gives me just that little extra I needed to fill my palm, and does not interfere at all with any functions of the firearm.

    Glock Warranty- Very Nice!

I recently checked out a G17 Gen 3 that a buddy of mine picked up at a Tanner show. He said it was nigh on impossible to pull the trigger. It was VERY stiff. Opened it up to find an olive NY trigger spring. I found a spare OEM trigger spring in my big box 'o parts and it runs like new. (I...

My Carry Sig! What you runnin?

I've always wondered how well my EDC would fare if I went down on my bike. I've alternated between AIWB, 4 'o clock, and vest carry, using a Kydex holster even in the vest CC pocket, while riding. Every time I weigh the risk vs benefits of the varied methods of carry, and still don't have a...
