Seems we were both right. Win Chokes are the same as Browning Invector and Mossberg Accuchoke. And as you stated, a full choke doesn't seem to make much difference in the pattern.
Well after repeated phone calls to Savage that only got as far as their answering machine and live chat with both Brownells and Midway I wound up no smarter for my efforts. Brownells and Midway must have moved their technical support overseas or something for all the help it was. So I fell back...
I only had 20 yards to work with at my local range and at that range it had a decent shot pattern but I fear beyond that the shot would be too sparse with #7 1/2.
I recently bought a savage 301 single shot shotgun in 410 for squirrel season this year. I believe in comes with a improved cylinder win choke. I have very little experience with shotguns and exactly zero with interchangeable chokes.
I am looking for a full choke to install in the gun but...
Thanks for all of the replies. The more I think about it the more I believe my lack of cheek weld may be causing the problem. I never remember having this problem before I put a scope on it. I'm going to install a proper cheek rest and then see if the problem persists.
I don't think it's cheek pressure. I mounted a scope on the rifle and the eye position is so high that my jaw bone barely touches the stock. I plan on installing an adjustable cheek rest on it eventually. Was actually considering bearing down on the cheek rest with my face to help control the rifle.
For the life of me I cannot shoot a rifle with any amount of recoil off of a benchrest with any consistency. As you could imagine, this makes testing loads very difficult. 22LR or 223 don't seem to give me much trouble but my M1A in 308 is about to make me pull my hair out.
I'm using a...
Ive been shooting casually with military slings ever since I discovered them. Every rifle I own wears one. If a rifle cannot wear a 1903 or web sling I will not buy it. That being said, my eyes are getting where using iron sights is becoming more of a struggle than I wish to fight anymore.
So...
I see the quote option now but it's not working. Maybe because I'm using an iPad. I'll give the eye pal a shot and may investigate reading glasses. I'm nearsighted but also was prescribed bifocals last year for the first time. I stuck with single vision because the reading part of the glasses...
Sorry. Can't figure out how to reply with a quote. I did buy a merit aperture to stick on my glasses but it was a huge hassle to get it positioned correctly and I eventually gave up on it.
M1A shooting a NRA 100 yard target. I've tried both standard .070 and NM .040 rear apertures and both standard and NM width front sights. The NM sights seemed even worse with my eyes.
I love to shoot iron sights but I'm about ready to give them up. I know you're supposed to focus on the front sight and let the target be blurry but the target is now so blurry that I cannot tell where the edge of the bullseye is. It's not even a circle anymore. It's just darkness.
I mean...
