Who Makes The Best 1911 Under $1000

My guess is I would opt for a Dan Wesson (DW) 1911. Why? The fit and finish are equal to the best is and therefore you are getting a very good pistol at a bargain price. I have two Commander sized DW pistols a 10mm and a 45acp Bobtail. I love 1911s and these are great ones.

    Best CZ pistol?

If you like the Browning Hi-Power, you will adore the CZ75 Compact. Both of these pistols feel the same in my hand.

    Experience with BERSA ?...

I have a Bersa Thunder 380 and 45acp, both are great carry weapons. A carry weapon takes a lot of abuse and therefore I do no use my expensive handguns for that purpose. Regards, Richard:)

    School me on a basic 1911 .45

"Another one to grab if you can find it is the 1927 Argentinian Sistema. This is essentially a Colt clone made in Argentina." Wrong! A Sistema Colt 1927 is a licensed copy of the 1911A1; the Sistema Colt 1927 is equal in quality to an old time Colt and that is superb. Regards, Richard:) My...

Ahh... the 1911 MilSpec woes continue...

I am all thumbs and what I would do is find a good 1911 mechanic in your area. A 1911 mechanic is a gunsmith that knows how to get/keep your 1911 running. It isn't unusual to have teething problems with a 1911 but they should be easy for a mechanic to fix. Regards, Richard:)

    What Did Richard Do?

I traded my Nickle S&W Model 29-2 even for a Kimber Classic Stainless Target. My new Kimber looks very similar to the one in this photo. Why did I trade my M29-2? The answer is simple; if I shoot a lot of 44 Mag full loads I want it to be in my Ruger Super BlackHawk as it soaks up the recoil...

    Radical Concepts Wrap Around Grips

Josh, I bet that rubber is ideal for CCW, you hardly notice it catching on your clothing. I have never heard of needing extra support for an ambi safety nor have I ever seen a 1911 with a stubby safety on one side and an extended safety on the port side. What gives? 1911s have been around for 96...

Glock 30 - all around gun?

Fat Boy, I would think a G30 with a spare 10mm conversion barrel and 10mm magazines would be damned near perfect for all occasions. Regards, Richard:)

US Firearms is very well respected; their revolvers are supposed to be top slelf. Regards, Richard:)

9mm 1911 Off The Shelf Tack Driver Wanted

I have a 9mm Colt that a friend commissioned and it never worked. I bought it for $1,000 and I admit I then put another $500 into it. This pistol now runs like a top but it isn't an experience I would want another to have. I would contact Bob Serva http://www.fusionfirearms.com/ and take his...

    Greatest 9mm Ever

The Dark Side! I own more than 9mms than most people and my vote goes to the Glock 17/19. I have never had a stoppage with a Glock and my G17 is among the more accurate 9mms I have shot. Regards, Richard:)

    Ya'll's Crazy! 5" 1911 is Comfy!

I love 1911s but my opine is that even with a good holster and belt a Government Model gets old by the end of the day. Regards, Richard:)

    My Alessi Talon clip broke-HELP!!

The last two posts demonstrate why I love my "Uncle Lou", even if I am older than him. I have had a lot of dealings with Lou Alessi and he is "TOP SHELF"! Regards, Richard:)

    Which One

I have always said a 357 Mag would be the one handgun to own but I seldom shoot them. I do shoot a lot of 1911 45acps and therefore the 45acp now gets my nod. Regards, Richard:)

Bang around duty gun for armored car work.

I would look for a good used Glock 17 or 19. When I found one, I would never look back. Regards, Richard:)
