    Ruger Security Six 357mag

I bought both of these second hand in the late 80s. Mine is the blue 357 mag. Wife's is the stainless 38 spl. They both have really smooth actions.

    Florida CCW qualifying

When we moved to Florida from CT in 2016, it took a total of 15 minutes to do the paperwork for my carry permit. Showed my DD214, answered the questions on the computer, then printed on the scanner. It took 15 minutes because they had to put new toner in the scanner LOL. 4 days later I got the...

    Favorite small caliber handgun?

It would have to be my Colt Government .380. Just slightly larger than a Mustang. It has never skipped a beat.

Who has ever actually worked in the firearms industry?

I have not, but I have 2 brothers-in-law who have. One was a supervisor in the cylinder machining cell at Colt around 1980 ish. To him it was just another machining job he could have been making widgets for all he cared. The other was supervising the shipping dept at Marlin when they got bought...

Back stop for hand gun shooting in a barn

I built a 25 ft range in the basement of our old (ex) house. It was 4x4 old telephone pole cross arms stacked up, with 6x6 stacked in front of those. A piece of 3/4 plywood in front to tape a target onto. Behind the target area was a wall that enclosed a coal bin, and fieldstone foundation at...

What have you fired this week?

Went to an indoor range yesterday with a friend. Took my Ruger single six and 357 Blackhawk. Hadn't fired either in at least 10 years, maybe longer. They felt great. Didn't take long to burn thru a box of 50 .38 spl and 100 .22s. I think they need to get out more often.

How the VA "red flags" veterans

I use the VA in Florida. I think I get really good care/service there. Actually maybe too good in that I go to two physicals each year, and two optometry appointments which is a little much IMO.

    Yard Sale Tactics

I can't give you any yard sale advise. The last one we had was 13 years ago. Our house went on the market 2 days prior. A guy came to the sale to buy old records and he made a cash offer (it was actually our asking price) and we sold the house just like that. Gone.

A Reasonable Discussion of Stopping Power

All I know is that IF I ever get hit by a stray bullet, I hope its a .22 not a.44 Mag.

    Colt 380

I found an extended magazine for a Mustang which fits perfectly once the plastic finger piece is removed. Just another option.

    Rust Issues

Have you tried contacting one of the gun companies? They all have metallurgists on staff and would be able to figure out the source.

    Hearing Loss

I was told by a doctor that most men suffer more hearing loss in their left ear. He said because of driving with an open window. Of course that's for guys who don't shoot. My father-in-law had bad hearing loss, but he spent his working life in a screw machine shop.....but he also would take...

How long, or ever, since you took a firearms safety course?

I had the typical Army training in the early 70s then served as range NCO on 4 or 5 occasions. In the early 90s I when Ct started to require a carry permit to transport firearms to the range, etc., I took a class for that but it was a real joke. 15 minutes with another friend during our lunch...
