    Times like the current

My definition for a hobby self-destructing in this regard is to become unusable to the average person, which is essentially the case at the moment unless one had stock or pays 2-3 times normal price. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are others, but I cannot think of another hobby right off hand...

    Times like the current

Yeah, now is definitely the time to sell. Even if I do end up switching hobbies I’ll still hold onto my guns and ammo though. I would still be carrying and shooting enough to stay proficient. What I’m thinking about doing is finding something to replace the range trips I make just for fun.

    Times like the current

Does anyone else ever get so annoyed during times like this that they think about quitting shooting and taking up a new hobby? If I were to shoot the same as I did last year I have enough ammunition for a good 2-3 years so my problem isn’t the actual getting to go shoot. Things will likely be...

    +P ammo for my BDA .380 ?

Personally, I rarely use +p ammunition at all. If I want more power I just go to a stronger caliber. It’s not that I’m afraid it’ll damage my gun. I just never saw the point when I could just buy another gun with more power and the added bonus of owning another gun. That said, I would be...

Court orders NYPD to turn over names, zipcodes, and gun info of 2018 firearms licensees

This already happens here in Tennessee periodically. I don’t remember which one but there is a newspaper that pulls all carry license holders’ name and address and posts it on their website. If it stands in a state as conservative as Tennessee it almost certainly will in New York.

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

I bought a 380 barrel for one of my Makarovs. Not sure I’ll ever even install it. Just wanted one in case.

    State travel tourism Boycott?

If I want to go somewhere I go there. I would prefer to be able to carry, but I don’t let it dictate if I go. Life is too short to hold political grudges with whole states.

    Taurus or Springfield

I couldn’t tell you the specific department they were from, but I’ve seen XD45’s for sale as police trade-ins before. My guess would be a local PD in some small town since you don’t see them often. I used to have a Sig 2340 in 357 Sig that had a small town PD name engraved on it. I think the...

    ammo pricing question

I have nothing against the small stores that are afraid of having nothing to sell later on due to distributors playing favorites with large stores, but if stores like Cabelas can still charge $9-$11 a box for 9mm when they have it in stock that proves that they aren’t paying more for the...

    Seized weapons auction???

I’ve been to one and it was enough for me to not bother going back to another one. Maybe it’s just my area, but some of the ending prices were nuts. A few examples are used Hi Points going for $175 and a used Ruger Mini-14 going for $750. This was about 10 years ago when the Mini-14s were under...

    ammo pricing question

I don’t know if this is the case with ammunition but I can say that, at least with some products, charging above MSRP is grounds to be cut off from getting those items from your distributor. I know for certain that this is the case with at least video games.

what is the craziest "deal" you have seen recently for 9mm?

It seems like everyone is jacking their prices up. Even my two favorite stores, Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore and SGammo, are climbing to crazy prices. They didn’t raise their prices anywhere near as quickly as many others, but they are both starting to catch up.

    Taurus or Springfield

I actually like Taurus but the Springfield is more valuable. I would ask for at least $100 along with the Taurus for it.

    Standardize or Stay Diverse?

I have a few guns that I keep more supplies on hand for, but I like variety. The way I see it is my ammunition is standardized since I always carry a 40 and as such I keep more 40 on hand. The other calibers are just there for fun and utility if I ever can’t find 40.

Any love for the 9x18 ?

I like the round or more specifically enjoy the PM. I actually just bought my second one yesterday. It was a double stack Russian model. I got a good deal on it because it’s missing the safety and safety detent.

    Who is shooting less?

I’ve been shooting less for two years now. Seems as I get older I have less and less free time.

    MidwayUSA shipping time.

I’ve made two orders through midway over the last month. One had ammunition and the other did not but both shipped the day after the order and were on my porch two days later. I believe they are in Missouri which makes my Tennessee location close to them though.

    Replacement for sig2022 40

Unless they’ve dropped them recently Walther offers the PPQ, P99, and Creed in 40. I’m not sure if they’d fit what you’re looking for size wise as I’ve never owned either of them though. I have a classic M&P and M&P 2.0 in 40 and both are great guns. The 2.0 is easier to grip but the classics...

    Taurus 82

Kyguncompany is one of the main online shops I buy from. I wouldn’t have any worry buying from them.

another thing to watch out for while hunting, snakes.

Copperheads, pygmies, and eastern diamondbacks are all we ever see around here. I believe the pygmies are considered a protected species here in Tennessee now. One thing that might ease some folks fear of copperheads a bit is they have very weak venom. For a full grown adult, you are more likely...
