i just traded for this today so anyone have one and any advise much appreciated??

The Remington Carbine is one of the most fun muzzleloaders I have shot. Like the others have said make sure to wear eye protection for powder blowback. Also, I just clicked that link and went to the dixe gun works listing, wow have those gone up in price since I last checked.

CCI #11 caps available for the moment here

For anyone who has ordered caps from LG outdoors, have you received them yet? Trying to see if they are actually in stock or perhaps the website just says they are.

CCI #11 caps available for the moment here

Dang. Can you box some up and send me some? lol.

CCI #11 caps available for the moment here

My LGS wants $20 plus tax for 100 of those CCI caps, which of course is ludicrous. If you buy from this online source in bulk it may be under $.10 a piece.

Anyone ever use this to make caps?

I have a Kevin the Cap Maker #11 cap maker die, and it works well but is tedious. I use a roll cap, a bit of 3F powder, and another roll cap. The hard part is getting the roll cap 'circle' into the cap hull. I've found that I have to use pie tin material rather than soda can material because the...

#0 Buckshot for .31 BP Revolvers

I do have the loading press with the various loading jags, but it doesn't work with the little .31 cylinder. I might be able to take a .36 cal loading jag that comes with the press and sand it down to fit a .31 cylinder though. Currently, I use a brass rod and a mallet to seat the balls and it...

#0 Buckshot for .31 BP Revolvers

I will consider this. I have a Lee .319 RB mold that casts balls that work just fine, but if I could get 1200 rounds for $50 like ballistic products sells that would be easier than casting for days lol.

    Uberti 1849 Colt Nipple Wrench

I picked up a couple 5 mm sockets, going to give them a go and see how they do.

#0 Buckshot for .31 BP Revolvers

Hi, Was wondering if you all use #0 buckshot for your .31 bp revolvers, and if so, is the buckshot soft enough to seat in the cylinders of your revolvers? I typically load my .31 cylinders off the frame of the gun with a brass rod and mallet, so perhaps I can get away with using lead that is a...

Help picking my first blackpowder revolver

You're going to get a lot of different opinions, and none are necessarily incorrect, but I would highly recommend a steel framed 1858 Remington replica. Either Pietta or Uberti made. The sights are pretty good, and also has a lot less tendency for cap jams. Colt 1851 and 1860 models will work...

    Uberti 1849 Colt Nipple Wrench

Hi, I was wondering if any of you all have to use a different nipple wrench on your 1849 Colt pocket replica's? I was trying a Ted Cash ratcheting model and it is just a smidge to wide. Thanks.

Anybody use Coconut oil and Beeswax for BP Revolver Wad Lubricant?

Its the solid stuff that comes in a jar.

Anybody use Coconut oil and Beeswax for BP Revolver Wad Lubricant?

I'm making the lube for felt wads.

Anybody use Coconut oil and Beeswax for BP Revolver Wad Lubricant?

Thanks for the input. When you used the coconut oil in place of tallow for the Gatefeo #1 recipe, is that when the wads sweated out the lube? Based one what everyones saying, I may go with something like a 2-3 parts wax to 1 part coconut oil mix.

Anybody use Coconut oil and Beeswax for BP Revolver Wad Lubricant?

Howdy. I've run out of lambs tallow for my typical tallow/beeswax lubricant for felt wads. Does anybody use a coconut oil and beeswax lubricant mixture for wads? If so, what is your beeswax to coconut oil ratio? The coconut oil looks like it will melt quicker/easier than tallow. Interested in...

.45 Colt Lee Loader Reloading Issue

Jackrabbit you may be on to something there. I have G.F.L and BHA cases. BHA seem to seat flush, and the G.F.L cases do not it looks like.

.45 Colt Lee Loader Reloading Issue

Quick edit: I took a handful of cases out and lubed and hammered them into the resizing die, and 2 went in flush. The next 3 went in a bit less then flush though. Maybe I have to go through all my cases and discard the ones that don't go in flush? (Even though the case length is of the proper...

.45 Colt Lee Loader Reloading Issue

Thanks for the input so far. I measured the length of the cases I used and they vary between 1.26" to 1.27", and the max trim length in the manual is 1.285" so we're good there. I also tried no case lube, and then applied case lube on subsequent cases with the same result. Also, I beat the...

.45 Colt Lee Loader Reloading Issue

Hello, I got a Lee Loader recently for my 1858 Remington Conversion, and am running into an issue. Thought I'd see if anyone here may know the solution. After knocking out the spent primer, I lubricated the outside of the .45 Colt case with Lee resizing lube, and proceeded to insert the lubed...
