If you could have only 2 knives?

I could certainly make do with a good drop point fixed blade and an old USA made Old Timer stockman, however lately I'm getting a lot of more use out of my SAK, Opinel, and Spyderco Sadly, my Buck Folding Hunter and Presidio seldom leave the drawer

Does .45 live up to the hype?

Didn't shoot him in the eye, and he did stand there, waiting for a kill shot Nor do you put down cows the same as horses, cow's brains sit lower down between the eyes. Horse #1 was put down with a .22 LR Horse #2 with a .38 Spl and dropped immediately Putting down a horse is terrible duty and...

Does .45 live up to the hype?

How many horses have you had to put down with a firearm? Two for me. And yes, if you're not on the mark, they will stand there and look at you. I have one of the skulls hanging on my back fence.

Does .45 live up to the hype?

^^This^^ isn't exactly what they taught us at the peace officer's academy. COM was a volleyball size area in the chest. The object is to stop the attack.

Does .45 live up to the hype?

Or the accuracy of the shooter. Ever have to put a horse down? Imagine a line from the base of the left ear to the right eye, and from the left eye to the base of the right ear. Where the lines intersect is the brain, about the size of a walnut. Shoot anywhere else in the head and the horse...

Does .45 live up to the hype?

With any caliber, if you successfully train with it in an accurate pistol, you'll hit with it. Placement on target is primary. Everything else---follow ups, tissue damage, and blood loss is secondary to that.

    S&W 44 Mags

Why the short barrels if not for a concealment role? "Just because" is more fun when you've got accuracy on your side, and a 6" barrel .44 is super accurate

    Colt Dragoon. Should I?

There was a reason why cavalrymen wore suspenders and a belt

    Colt Dragoon. Should I?

There's a reason why the 1860 Army replaced the Dragoon revolvers. Just sayin'

22 wmr or 38 special or 44 special for ccw

It depends on your custom of dressing, the comfort of your holster, your tolerance for recoil/muzzle blast, and your body build.

    China / Taiwan knives.

I've got to ask, what exactly does the OP consider a "quality" knife? You were in love with your CRKT Ruger Hunter, why? Did you regard it as a quality knife and then knowing the country of origin it mystically transformed into a POS non-quality knife? Or did the blade snap on you? Or liner lock...

    China / Taiwan knives.

If you don't want to do business with the PRC, then don't. Taiwan isn't the PRC until they get invaded. That hasn't happened. Yet. And then the PRC will be making most all of the world's computer chips.

Smith and wesson 38 safety hammerless, Is this modern ammo good to shoot in it? Thanks.

4th Model Hammerless Safety New Departure and newer were rated for smokeless, 3rd Model and older were for black powder only, according to my sources. Smokeless in your 2nd Model will eventually stretch the frame or worse. Not a good thing for such a nice little revolver..

HKS speed loaders for revolvers Bar mats for cleaning pistols (the nubs keep tiny parts from escaping) A staple gun for tacking targets up A coffee can for policing brass A roll of Necco Wafers for cheap and challenging "reactive" targets

Cost of gun ownership, ammo, and practice versus other activities

The way ammunition is right now, shooting ain't exactly cheap is it? It used to be a fellow could get a lot of satisfaction from a Ruger Mark and a carton of bulk Winchesters, or a Mossberg 500 and value-pack of Wally World Federal Field loads. For a family man on a budget, hobbies especially...
