Shot 150 158gr Xtreme RNFP over 4.3 grains HP-38 38spl out of a 1979 Dan Wesson 15-2 4" 357 at my local indoor range. Late in my session a couple gentlemen about my age(70) began using the lane next to me. They kept shooting the target clamp shattering the bullets which knocked their targets...
I've bought six revolvers on GB over the last eight years with no issues. Most arrived in better condition than I expected. Two were LE special contract models not listed as such but I recognized. The last was a 'too good to be true" NYCPD Service Six for my $305 bid. Like the Peruvian contract...
Similarly, Peru ordered Model 10's & 37 snubs in 1984 for their version of FBI and canceled the order after they were stamped with the Peruvian crest. S&W offered them to US dealers, so they never shipped to Peru and every one I've seen is in great condition as is the OP's. I bought one not long...
Sounds about right. My LGS had a 2 1/2" 66-2 yesterday for $1000 but probably would take $900 OTD. Very nice one too. I left it there to prove I could.
I would suggest anyone who shoots alot to save they're brass in case they ever decide to reload. I started shooting handguns in 2015 (at 65yrs old) and saving my brass in 2017 and by 2021 (started reloading)I had enough 38 & 357 for the rest of my days. Xtreme 158gr RNFP(copper plated) 38spl 11...
My wife's father was a state trooper and his service gun was a "Trooper" in 357 so sometimes the name fits. My first wife was a snake but that's another story altogether.
I see 2 3/4" Speed Sixes advertised as 3" often. My first Speed Six was this GS-83 NYCPD 3" DAO 38spl. It led to my buying several more Six Series revolvers.
Shot 150 Xtreme 158gr RNFP 38spl over 4.3 grains HP-38 using a 4" Model 10 & Dan Wesson 15-2 357 2.5" barrel. 100 of them primed with Services & Aventuras SPP 50 with Winn SPP. All went bang, no FTF.
That's my favorite 38spl load but with Xtreme 158gr RNFP over 4.3 grains HP-38. No problems with the heavy plating on the Xtremes and easy clean up. Shot 150 of them today.
1. Sig P226 9mm Legion
2. PC Sheild 9mm
3. S&W Model 65-2 3" 357
4. Ruger GP100 4" 357
5 Dan Wesson Model 15-2 V6 barrel 357 with multiple barrels if it's not cheating ;)
While I was waiting for the novicane to wear off from some dental work done this AM... I loaded 300 Xtreme 158gr 38spl over 4.3grains HP-38 using the much maligned Servicios & Aventuras SPP. Out of 3000 only two FTF so far shooting Ruger & S&W revolvers with stock springs. Interesting so many...
I wouldn't shoot that gun in the condition it's in. I would have Ruger do the rebarreling. Contact customer service and provide them with the pictures. They're very easy to deal with. It also would be a good opportunity, if you favor a different barrel length, to have them put on the barrel you...
Shot 100 158gr Xtreme RNFP over 4.3 grains HP-38 38spl out of a S&W Model 65-2 3" 357. It's a pleasure to shoot. Diagnosed why I was shooting consistently a bit right and made a correction to my grip that put me on target again. Left smiling.
Both of my NRA pistol permit instructors admitted they had a ND in their houses and both were retired police/detectives. Shows it can happen to anyone when we don't follow safety guidelines. Probably happens more often than people admit.
So, removing the IL and plugging removes the unlikely possibility of the IL locking up the revolver? In that case plugging would make sense for those concerned about their SD gun. I've shot thousands of 38+p through two revolvers with the lock with no problems. They were well used LE trade in...
