I own an original Sport I with the 5R 1:8 twist barrel, adjustable rear sight (looks like a chopped carry handle sight), no dust cover, no forward assist. And, I love it!
I like the fact that Ruger CAN be different than every other AR built, and still lead the pack in the entry level AR. Remember, S&W didn't have the dust cover and forward assist on the S1, which I own one. To me, it's just trivial. But, those 2 items put the Ruger AR-556 on the map. S&W saw they...
I bet you paid at least $100-$150 more for the S2 than the AR-556. Just think what you could have used that extra money on; ammo, towards a some great optics, MAGPUL furniture, a very nice carry case, etc.
I'm shooting circles around my S&W MP15 buddies, and I'm using iron sights compared to...
Lately, these 2 AR's are the one's most people are buying. I am seeing the AR-556 priced as low as $449 (PSA). For 1 day, GrabAGun.com had the S2 for $479, the lowest I have EVER seen it priced.
Did Ruger make too many AR-556's and is now passing the savings onto the consumer, or is it ACTUALLY...
Being that the Ruger AR-556 has an un-shrouded BCG, I am hearing horror stories about the firing pin and firing pin retaining clip are getting chewed up. Can anyone confirm this and elaborate on it? I really don't want to buy another BCG, but, if my 556 BCG is going to do this to my firing pin...
Have you read the history behind Colt Canada? Since Colt bought DIEMACO they had only made rifles for the military. Now, Colt Canada has allowed DIEMACO to release AR's to the public. I am guessing the Canadian public only. And, from seeing how they build them, I WANT ONE! Call me crazy, silly...
I own the S&W Sport 1. I was looking for another AR. I wanted to build one with all of the parts from PSA. But, instead, I bought a Ruger AR-556.
The AR-556 or Sport 2 are great choices. Either one will do.
Did you buy my rifle? NO! If YOU buy me an AR-15 then I will paint it the red your a** color is going to be after you read my reply, if that's the color you choose!
Um, when I painted my Ruger "Phoenix", I should have used a Fire Engine Red finger nail polish. Maybe I still can, just leave it as is and paint over it. If it doesn't come out correct I can just strip the paint and start over.
Thanks for the compliment, though.
I bought the paint at WM in the arts & craft section. I bought the non-acetone fingernail polish remover in the makeup section. First, tear a few business cards into halves. Use the polish remover to clean any oil, grease, and fingerprints from the surface. Let it air dry. Use a toothpick to...
I was bored today so I decided to paint the letters and the Phoenix on my AR-556. You can't see the "FIRE" letters, but, when I do a final cleaning I will post a pic of the complete AR.
I am "AR-15 scope-optics illiterate", as you can tell. Can you please be more specific? I have never seen or used this type of optic, scope, etc. All I want is to bring the target closer to my sight, which will be no more than 100 yards away, like I do when I am sighting in my deer rifles with...
This Ruger AR-556 is my 1st AR to not have a carry handle. My budget is under $100 for a scope. I would like to keep the pop up sight and, if possible, use it when I don't use the scope I am wanting.
I am old fashion so I very much would like a scope with the cross hairs in it, if I am saying...
