    Brass cleaning

"I use the Extreme 17 or whatever it's called tumbler." Dentite - About how many pounds of brass per batch do you run in the Rebel 17? I typically run 5 pounds per batch in the Thumler's tumbler...

    Brass cleaning

For me, it's 1/4 TSP of Lemi-Shine, 1 ounce auto wash and wax, and just enough water to cover the brass plus an inch or so. Using a Thumler's high speed model B and 5 pounds of SS pins. Typical results:

    Leading visibility

Kano Kroil in the bore effectively removes leading. Kroil is not a solvent but a super penetrating oil that creeps under the deposits. After Kroil sets for about a half hour, a brush and patch removes all deposits. All that's left is a mirror finish in the bore.

My Speed Six or My GP100

My Security Six dates back to the late 70's. Its had thousands of rounds through it. Still looks and feels like it was right out of the box. Put larger grips on it when I first got it. It's hard to improve on something like this:

    Not happy with ammo purchase

Like others who've posted, it is my rule to never shoot any ammunition reloaded by anyone else, even if commercially marketed. On the other hand, I exclusively shoot my own reloads - not even factory ammo. Bayou

    Squib Load?

This is not "legal" or "official", it's just my understanding of the terms, and how I've used them: Squib = insufficient ignition to propel the projectile clear of the barrel Hangfire = an unexpected and delayed ignition of propellant Misfire = no ignition of propellant resulting in a...

Look what followed me home from the gun show.

Very nice. Should be a good shooter. I, too, have an affinity for stainless. Always have. I've got a 1979 vintage Security Six in SS with a 6" tube. Also, have a 1984 Redhawk 357 in SS with a 7.5" tube. Both great shooters.......

Suggest a varmint bullet for 357 mag.

Your inquiry concerns using a 357 projectile for taking varmints. Quick and dirty reply - I would think that if you're shooting varmints, any 357 projectile will do the job - if you can hit the varmint..........:D

What's the strangest circumstance you ever found yourself in while handling a gun?

"What's the oddest circumstance you've ever found yourself handling a gun in?" That would be a hangfire situation. That is, the trigger is snapped, and you can hear something like the primer igniting, but not sounding right and no bang. However, because you heard something, you know enough...

    45 ACP Loads Stopped Cycling

I also concur that your COL could probably be shortened. I would try 1.23" - 1.24" COL. I personally load 230 grain RN to 1.24". Also, check your case mouth diameter, some call it "crimp", others call it "case mouth diameter". For me, I try to get a case mouth diameter of .470", and this...

My first .357 loads, MBC coated LSWC 158, feedback for any interested.

"15.3 W296 only load so far that feels like a magnum. Cases somewhat dirty but very little debris if any. Accurate, flashy and fun. Some smoke I'm guessing from the hitek coating. Wish I had more W296 around. This one's a keeper." Q - are you noticing any lead barrel fouling from this load? I...

    Ruger Redhawk

For me, the RH factory grips were very small and uncomfortable. Fortunately, my RH had a set of Pachmayr Presentation grips in the box. That was the ticket for me - much better fitting in my hand. Here's a pic:

    Favorite wet tumbling solution

Coldfinger - That's interesting - using a sonic cleaner solution in a wet tumbler. First I've heard of that but it sounds like it works for you. Thanks, Bayou5252

    Favorite wet tumbling solution

bayou5252 - My model B tumbler is not the high speed model. Can it be converted by putting a larger wheel on the motor or do I need a high speed motor? Sir - It's the speed of the motor that determines whether it's high speed or not. The speed of the model B high speed motors is 3000 rpm...

    Favorite wet tumbling solution

I've been wet tumbling with SS pins for 4 years using a Thumler's model B high speed tumbler. I typically tumble 5 pounds or so of brass per batch. My recipe is one ounce of auto wash and wax (Blue Coral or Armor-All - they work the same with plenty of suds), 1/4 TSP of Lemi-Shine, 5 pounds of...
