    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

That is exactly why I bought my 29 in 1970 for $150 (about $1200 in today's money) with 6 shots fired thru it. A guy bought it new and told me he hated the recoil and put the gun up for sale. A very low fun factor for him. I happened on the ad the day it came out and bought it along with the...

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

I don't think Mike V "is just full of it", he just has a different opinion than we do.

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

I hope not because 44 Spl ammo will then become even more scarce and more expensive. I just bought a S&W model 24 in .44 Special (non-interlock) because I don't like shooting the Specials in my model 29 due to leading in the cylinder. Moreover, I needed a beautiful Model 24!

Went to range with two.. came home with three

Rod, Agee with everything you said. My 25-15 was perfect, but I have heard more than one story of poor QC on some models. It reminds me of way back in about 1978 when the stainless steel model 629's first came out, the QC was outrageously bad. If Smith doesn't tighten up their QC across the...

Went to range with two.. came home with three

Just bought my first Hillary Hole (HH, interlock) Smith, something I absolutely swore I would never do! My new 25-15 in 45 LC is a beautiful gun with an outstanding trigger pull. I took the side plate off to remove the interlock and replace it with a TK Custom plug and noted the perfect fit...

    .41 Mag Association

Did the 41 mag association ever get traction? I have model 57 and like the 41.

    Going rate 1981 S&W 29-2

Bought my first 6" 29 in 1971 for $150 bucks from a guy that fired 6 rounds thru it and didn't like the recoil. Still own it and will pass down to grandkids. Love that beautiful revolver!

When California was once home to some of America's most talented Gun Smiths.

The Mulford Act was passed because the Black Panthers were carrying firearms and "patrolling" areas in Oakland, CA looking for cops to shoot. It was passed in an effort to try to keep cops from getting shot by Black Panthers. Now they go by Black Lives Matter and Antifa. The Mulford Act was...

From Total Fun To Pure Pain: How & Why?

The best advice! You may have a rotator cuff issue that you know nothing about. See a sports physician. Light loads, better recoil pad, those are just attempts at reducing pain. Find the root of the problem and you won't have to guess or fiddle around with "fixes" that don't address the problem.

    Forgotten revolver tips and tricks.

Just to set the record straight, NONE of the CHP officers at Newhall dumped their cases into their shirt pockets as has been purported for years, nor did they pick up their brass. Some grossly misinformed person crafted that story shortly after the incident and it took on a life of its own and...

Black powder use on this day in history

This is a quote from an unidentified officer who was at the Battle of Rosebud Creek just 8 days before Little Bighorn. "The firing was now terrific, the repeating rifles used by the Indians enabling them to make it one continuous volley. Officers who were through the [Civil] war and were there...

Black powder use on this day in history

Absolutely! Just 10 years earlier LTC (brevet) Fetterman and his entire force of 80 officers and enlisted were lured into an ambush and killed in 20 minutes by a force of about 2000 Sioux. Fetterman had made an earlier statement that with 80 men he could walk thru the Sioux Nation...

    best 44 mag??

I am a serious S&W guy and own two 29's which are terrific .44 Mags, but the most accurate .44 mag I've ever shot is the Ruger Super Blackhawk. If I were going to shoot 1000's of stout loads or use it for hunting, the Ruger would deserve strong consideration.

Asked for black powder... offered smokeless

As a former small business owner, I would concur with your statement. The average millennial appears to have no common sense, wants $15 an hour even though they are qualified at nothing, can only work if offered 2 weeks paid vacation every year and can't start work before 0900. What, you won't...
