    Let's talk 40gr & lighter loads in 223

I've been running benchmark for a good long while now, been eyeballing a few others, just haven't gotten around to pulling the trigger yet.

    .243 85grain load data origin

Might try loadbooks in .243 something like one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/395335121809?itmmeta=01HVVJ235HXECQJZBX86WKBW8A&hash=item5c0bcf3b91:g:QLQAAOSwKKhhjSFN

45-200 Lehigh Penetrator for hog hunting

So, several folks have not been thrilled with the screwdriver bullets, the wfn as Craig mentioned, or the barnes xpbs would probably serve you better.

    Wyoming Spring Bear

Are you hunting on a "wilderness area"? Last I knew the basic rule of thumb for a nonresident was hunting on public land=guide required by law.

rifle for new youth hunter, .357 mag, 44 mag or 243.

My oldest(16) saw a bench for the first time about 6 months ago, in a store, and decided it must be for lazy people 😆, I educated her on the uses of benches and while she accepted it, she retained a skeptical look until we left that part of the store and she found something that struck her interest.

What Bullet & Powder Would You Use

Mattsbullets.com 147 gr hp, or barnes 110, they both do what they're supposed at low velocities, I like bullseye but have been looking at slightly slower powders, accuracy has been great with bullseye, but I think I'd like just a bit more speed. The gold dots (even the 135 for "short barrel"...

Hornady ELD-X or Barnes LRX for long range Elk?

I'm not sure what about the "x" is false advertising, it was my understanding the x is for eXpansion, and the M is for match, I may have missed something though.... we treat the M like an amax(thinner more brittle jacket) and the x like a basic sst with a thicker jacket as far as terminal...

What ballistics app are you using on your mobile device? and an Applied Ballistics specific program question.

https://www.strelokpro.online/StrelokPro/android/default.asp That's direct from the developer, I have a Samsung phone so it was pretty straightforward for me.

    M2 Ball Yaw?

Fixed it for you. 😉44 mag carbine wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd take it in a heartbeat over your given alternative!! I don't live where there are hogs, but here, the only live targets that get an fmj are prairie dogs (prefer varmint loads) and coyotes (prefer varmint loads or deer loads...

    M2 Ball Yaw?

Yaw reduces greatly with lack of velocity, don't even roll the dice, get expanding loads.

    300 Blackout or 556/223?

With THIS in mind and your stated terrain, run the .223 for varmints and the .300bo as a plinker.

    Inline muzzleloader for hunting?

I'm fairly familiar with percussions, shot a handful of rifles in my younger years, my brother and I had .44 and .36 cap and ball revolvers, honestly the big appeal of the inlines is the 209 primers, bh209, and scopes. Where I live currently, there's no extra season for muzzleloader, but some...

    300 Blackout or 556/223?

Just curious, what kind of terrain do you hunt? Distances?

    300 Blackout or 556/223?

Soooo... you CAN load subs for .223, BUT essentially, they're each good in their own roles, an sbr .300 blk with a can is awesome for indoors, and decent with 110s and 125s for deerish sized critters at mediocre ranges, the .223 is decent for deer with same ranges, great for varmints at various...

PCC: IRL Trajectory and Ballistic Calculator Do Not Match . . . Why?

My just a real quick throw at strelok pro says 3" high at 15 yds, not sure your atmospheric conditions etc, but with 4moa ammo/scope/shooter, this COULD be 5" high to 1" high.

Newish 6mm or 6.5mm cartridge case size?

I feel like the 6 arc would get about as close as the 6.5 Grendel, non commercial? Wouldn't take much to neck up a valkyrie case(spc) to a 6mm, but not enough room for a decent heavyweight coal.... I think we just did a thread on the 6mm MAX(?) could be a different moniker but basic concept...

    Inline muzzleloader for hunting?

Yeppers, there's a couple used ones on my radar at the moment

    Inline muzzleloader for hunting?

Preferred current products? Traditions? Cva? T/c? Looking for 209 primer usage, reliable accuracy with a variety of projectiles, break action, and comfort level when the bangswitch activates? Feel free to iterate specific models (optima magnum, t/c prohunter, etc etc)

    8mm Remington Mag (any good)?

Shaw can do a stainless barrel for 330 if you don't flute it (i did configure muzzle threads for brake or suppressor for an extra $30, and deep chamber for $40 just to get to the medium top end of price spectrum)...
