Old load data for Accurate #5, Lead 158 Grn 38 Spl

That's very interesting, thank you (all of you). My chronograph battery died when I was out last week, but it looks like its time to get it out and see what's actually happening. I don't love this powder and will switch to something else once I use it up, but appreciate the info you've given...

Old load data for Accurate #5, Lead 158 Grn 38 Spl

Hi All, Sorry for picking up a VERY old and well worn trail, but I'm somewhat frustrated by lack of data. I had a hard drive failure awhile back and I lost the copies of old reloading manuals that I had squirreled away. I'm trying to work up some 38 Spl loads to shoot from a Ruger Service Six...

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

Thanks guys. Last question, do the Lee 38 S&W dies work properly with the .360 bullets and the proper 38 cases?

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

Very helpful to know this, thanks. I do appreciate hearing others have tried before I go off and try to find unobtanium powders.

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

I see the load tables for these cartridges in the manuals, thanks. What I'm asking for are people's preferences.

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

Without going into detail on quantities, what powder you you like to use for these?

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

Oh man, that link to Matt's is AWESOME! Thank you for that. I've been using a "Lyman Load Data for Popular Revolver Calibers" booklet and it doesn't cover these calibers. And yes, I slug everything I shoot, probably because I'm a nerd, but I find it to be part of the fun. Sometimes I feel...

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

I haven't used coated bullets before, just straight lead RNFP from Oregon Trail and HSM. What do you like about the coated ones?

    Reloading advice for 32 S&W and 38 S&W

Good morning (at least to those of us in PST timezone), I think my next affliction is going to revolve (literally) around pocket revolvers in the 32 and 38 S&W caliber. Most likely ones produced from 1905 and later, so very definitely still in the transitional period from black powder to...

    Pyrodex Corrosive?

I like Pyrodex and have shot it in both pellet form and as loose powder in my cap and ball pistols. I have had a handful of ignition failures when using pellets, all of which were resolved by recapping. Loose powder has never failed to ignite, even the stuff I tote around in my shooting bag...

Why so few hunting rifles with sights?

I find it surprising every time I see a rifle that has no front sight and only a Picatinny rail in the rear - with zero option to purchase it in any other way. An example would be the CVA Scout. Nice rifle, but only available for use with a scope. Their Optima V2 muzzleloader can be purchased...

    Uberti vs Pieta

I own one of each, both Remington clones. The 1858 is a Pietta, the 1875 is an Uberti and I don't really think one is better than the other. I have a slight preference for the Pietta 1858, but the Uberti 1875 is crazy accurate and a good shooter as well. I find the grips on the 1875 to be a...

    1858 conversion cylinder worth it?

I cannot imagine that they would be. With the hammer in a safety-notch, a bullet wouldn't come out the barrel, but I imagine you could set a round off in the cylinder by whacking an exposed firing pin if the gun fell the right (wrong?) way. Not sure if it's easier, or harder, to set off than a...

    58 Remington

I like this quick-release too - http://www.riverjunction.com/2865-1858-Remington-conversion_ep_95-1.html. Not sure exactly how they made it, but it's clean.

    1858 conversion cylinder worth it?

In response to the original question about whether these conversion cylinders are worth getting. Yes, I think they are, but because of the cost they should be viewed as though you are purchasing a second gun. I have a Pietta 1858 that I purchased from Cabela's last year. It's a great gun...

    1858 conversion cylinder worth it?

I have one and I think the safety notches work fantastically well. I have no qualms about carrying the gun loaded with the hammer resting in one of the safety notches. The notches are deeply and well machined and the engagement and lock is very positive.

Finer target sights for Browning Buck Mark plus

I've recently purchased a Browning Buck Mark Plus UDX. It shoots really nice and is accurate as heck, but I am not in love with the front fiber optic sight for bullseye shooting. I've done a bit of online shopping and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for, which is a fine (narrow)...

Walther PPK/S .22 LR First Impressions

Hey Tallball, I agree with you 100%. I picked up the Buck Mark Weds morning, put 200 rounds of assorted Winchester Super-X through it without a single problem, then competed in a Bullseye match with it that evening firing CCI std velocity - again without a single problem. It's accurate and...

Walther PPK/S .22 LR First Impressions

Interesting that brand has such an impact. I'll try some CCI in it next time. I had field stripped and cleaned at the night before. Did not disassemble it further than that. Thanks

Rossi Plinker vs. Charter Arms Pathfinder Target

Completely off topic, but I just wrote to Charter and asked if they would consider making a Bulldog in 45 Colt. Would be a heck of a competition to the Ruger Redhawk IMHO.
