    Another disappointing die purchase

Op, sorry to hear about your disappoint with your Hornady dies. I trust Hornady will take care of you. Most of my dies are RCBS, but I do have two Hornady dies in 32acp and 380acp, and they have served me well for years. In fact, based on my experience with them I would consider buying other...

    Reasons for keeping "safe queens"?

In my collection i have six Lugers, four are all matching and two are mixmaster shooters. I've never fired three of them and only fired the other one once. I shoot the mixmasters like I hate them. Lugers have so many numbered parts and it only takes one part to break and then the collectible...

    Reasons for keeping "safe queens"?

I have a few vintage FN Hi Powers. My guess is that he was working to remove the notorious mag safety to improve the trigger. It is a simple design , but requires great care to avoid scratching the frame.

A rookie question about decapping live primers

I accidentally deprimed about 15 rounds of live primers once and was really surprised and quite happy none of them popped. I considered it a lesson on being more focused while working at the bench.

Shelf Life on Large Pistol Primers left out on loading bench

Wow, reading some fascinating stories about resilient primers. Keep'em coming.🤔

    S&W K22 Masterpiece maintenance

Frogfurr, congrats on having a fine, heirloom K-22 and approaching responsible maintenance. I, too, inherited a 5 screw K-22 Masterpiece (a 1955) from my father-in-law a few years ago. The first thing I did was buy Kuhnhausen's book. You will love it! I also got the factory letter for it so when...

Have you ever sold/bought reloaded ammo?

I have never bought nor sold reloaded (or hand loaded) ammo. I don't like rolling the dice.

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

The lighting strips were a nice feature that the dealer added. Good point about humidity management. I did not get a Golden Rod, or Liberty's branded version because one is not necessary where the safe is located. The basement room is an HVAC control environment and I have been monitoring my...

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

I would have been happy to have purchased a quality, used safe, but i did not know of any out there locally. I spent some time researching gun safes. I hear you about the real world expectations regarding safes. Even so i feel so much better now that I'm not using a cheesy metal cabinet, a...

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

The pistol organizer (and insulated document bags at the bottom) was oem for the Liberty Fat Boy model. This functional feature influenced my decision to select this model.

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

For many folks that's an accurate comment. For me it is probably not. I'm 72 y.o. and have slowed my acquisitions considerably. I have given away some to grandsons already. I think (knock on wood) this safe has adequate capacity for me. Famous last words. 🤔

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

Yes, I'm fortunate to have a direct entrance to my basement shop. Delivery and installation was easy. I have more room in the safe than I expected. So far i am really pleased.

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

Actually, Liberty immediately changed their policy after that fiasco. One is able to opt out of Liberty retaining their 'backdoor' code access, if you choose. I'm glad I chose a USA made safe, although some foreign made options were quite attractive.

    New Liberty "Fatboy"safe

I'm really excited. I finally made a decision on a safe and chose the Liberty Fatboy series with a claimed 110 min fire protection and a level 5 security rating. The local dealer recently installed it. The measurements are 60.5"×42"×27.5". Regardless of the factory claims i like the features and...

    Gun Sock Effectiveness

I used old hiking socks for my hand guns that i sprayed with silicone many years. That worked well, especially so when i had them stored in a pile in a drawer. But i mostly stopped using them when i bought a large gun safe. I still use commercials rifle socks (sprayed with silicone) to avoid...

    Shoot it and leave it.....

I do a light cleaning after every shoot. I just feel better when i put up a clean firearm. I don't necessarily have to clean it; I want to. Perhaps it has to do with my being more of a collector than a shooter and i want my vintage and valuable firearms to be well babied.

.308 vs 30.06 vs .338 . Which One to Choose?

What caliber would i take? 30 06, but that's just my preference.

Have you ever sold/bought reloaded ammo?

Amateur Reloads: I'm not buying and I'm not selling. OP, by now you have heard plenty of responses. I can't add to what's already been said, but i did want to chime in.

    JHP or FMJ??

Just be a good friend and buy all of the ammo.:)

    Revolvers, Retirement, Freedom...

J-BAR, Congrats on the retirement! You are on your way to "living the American dream". I retired 7 years ago, wifey retired three years ago and we couldn't be happier. Every day is Saturday, except for Sunday! I spend 10 times more in my gun shop, going to gun shows, going to the range, etc...
