Are expensive 1911's range toys or serious CCW guns?

There was one listed recently on Guns International in little used condition for $999. Such guns usually bring about $1200....

    Like new S&W 9x19 K-frame 3" RB....

I passed on one few years ago with tag of $850. VG condition no box. Its an interesting design worth some extra coin. A 9mm Luger service revolver is weird in good kinda way.

Just listed Guns International #101256293. These are uncommon and the price is not that unreasonable. No connection to seller.

    Gen 3 vs Gen 5 Glock 19

The frame is made of plastic, therefore, I would get rid of 19 year gun and get a new one.

Glock 19 is best handgun ?

It has withstood test of time. Matter of fact the Gen 5 is basically identical to the original except for rail and more aggresive grip texture.

Are expensive 1911's range toys or serious CCW guns?

I don't know but that $2649 .50GI looked large and glorious. I actually think it's worth the money. As you might expect Glock version is less expensive.

Glock 19 is best handgun ?

The only thing I concede is that most excellent factory Glock magazines can be found on sale for <$25. Most of remaining gadgets are just a way of spending more money then realy necessary.

Glock 19 is best handgun ?

I didn't vote. There is nothing wrong with G19, but Sig, Ruger, H&K, FNH, S&W, CZ, Walther, Beretta.....all make models of identical parameters to compete with it. Just another tool. To me the choice would pretty much be what is on sale.

9.3x62mm Mauser - "Put a spell on you..."

I pulled out my ole' clunker for you..... Modern hunters would help themselves out by slowing down them ole game cartridges. For example, nothing but recoil and blast would be reduced if .375 H&H was downloaded by 200fps. Many slower yet effective cartridges from the past: 9.5MS 270gr...

9.3x62mm Mauser - "Put a spell on you..."

It was developed 1905-1906 in Germany to provide German settlers with inexpensive bolt gun for African use. While two cartridges are not interchangeable (different case & bullet diameter) from practical point of view the only difference between 9.3x62 and .35 whalen is the standard bullet for...

    Lever Action Recommendations?

Mi I would go with seldom encounteted .307 Winchester. Large selection of .30 cal bullets and not a crowbar to carry like a typical .45-70 lever gun. Local Cabela's had one not long ago for fair price and for some reason I left it in the rack.
