    Winchester Model 12 receiver/bolt wear

Was cleaning a friend's winchester model 12 that looks like it's seen a good amount of use. I noticed a wear line inside the top of the receiver caused by the firing pin retractor (see photos), and on the retractor itself. I'm not surprised to see this, but it looks deep to me. Will this...

    Pump action recommendations

I'm looking for a pump 12 ga for duck and skeet. I don't have a ton of money right now so I need to go lower end. I was considering a CZ 612 but heard they are garbage, and I know Rem 870s fit me well but I'm worried about quality control issues. I've bought one Stoeger but owned multiple...

    Question About Leading

I agree that it seems large; I re-measured my samples a few times and got readings in the .455-.457 range. I talked with the folks over at Penn and they said I should fit the bullet to the bore, and not use anything larger than that. *shrug* Thanks for the help

    Question About Leading

Thanks for the input. I use #8 lead egg sinkers squeezed a bit in a vise to get them big enough for the cylinder throats. I tried out 2 different bullets with the same powder and primers. The first were Missouri 250gr RNFP with a Brinell of 12, & SNS 250gr RNFP with a Brinell of 18. The...

Buying new 22lr, help me choose

I have no experience with the CZs but have heard that people use them for rimfire silhouette up in Canada. Not to be that guy who mentions something off the list, but I personally have a Savage mk II with a heavy barrel that gives me 1 MOA at 100 yrds. Action is nice and smooth and I like the...

    Question About Leading

I apologize in advance if this question sounds dumb. I'm used to shooting jacketed bullets, and have only been reloading lead bullets for a little while. I've been working on developing a moderately hot .45 Colt cartridge for my super redhawk (SR) in .454 Casull. I took the time to slug the...

    Best chronograph for pistols?

I use a Competition Electronics 538002-SSI ProChrono that I got off Amazon. Works well for me. Sub $100, USA made. You can get different diffuser hoods for indoor use. Supposedly they'll fix or replace it if you shoot it; don't know if that's true though. LabRadar looks great from what I've...

    Question About Bisley Grips

I've never owned a revolver with a Bisley grip and was thinking of picking one up. When I shoot a non-Bisley gripped 1873 clone I have to keep my pinky finger off the grip to lower my hand so I don't rub my shooting finger against the frame and push shots left. Will a Bisley grip allow me to...

    Cast Bullet Lube on Targets

A friend thinks the cylinder throats are smaller than the bore diameter, and suggested the following resources: http://www.castbullet.com/misc/accrsa.htm http://www.gunblast.com/Brownells_Reamer.htm

    Problems with Uberti Cattleman II

Hi everyone, Wanted to share my experience with the Uberti Cattlemen II (or "new model") revolvers. I picked up a pair this spring for cowboy action shooting in 45 Colt, and their performance hasn't been what I would call reliable. Both suffer from off-center primer strikes that can cause...

    Cast Bullet Lube on Targets

I usually only put 50-70 cartridges through the gun at any given range session without a cool down period. I can give it a try. In general, when I start the session with a cool barrel the accuracy is always good. The gun is a Uberti Cattleman II btw.

    Cast Bullet Lube on Targets

Hey Guys, I have a question about lube coming off cast bullets. I'm currently reloading .45 Colt with Unique powder & SNS cast bullets that have the blue lube strips at the bottom of the bullet. I make my target loads so they chrono out of my 5.5" SAA clone at around 865-880 fps at the...

Seeking opinions on what you would buy & why for one of the following (money ain't growin on trees for me right now but I still feel like getting something): 1) Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 mag (50+ yrd target shooting & hunting). 2) Ruger SP101 in .357 mag 3" barrel (alternative CCW). 3)...

Who is good for reloading supplies?

At mine it depends on the powder you want. I'm paying under 40 for unique tax free in the great state of NH.

Who is good for reloading supplies?

I priced out Natchez, Midway, mid-South, Graf, and Precision when I did my last order of non-hazmat stuff. Natchez was the cheapest, Midway by far the most expensive. For powder and primers, I just get them in person from basspro; no tax in NH and no hazmat fee in person.

    Uberti Cattleman II durability

I was at a cowboy match this past weekend, and one of my fellow competitors said that some of the internal components (sear, hammer) in Uberti revolvers were made out of softer/lower quality metal and would wear more rapidly than other brands (Ruger, Colt). Anyone know anything about this?
