    .22 LR long-ish (long-er) range

Relax Rambo, like I said, what I posted was simply an opinion, which I then apologized for possibly derailing the thread. In person, you wouldn’t have said what you said, so forgiveness goes both ways.

    .22 LR long-ish (long-er) range

“Time” is always. Post up some vids hitting the plate in the wind, sleet, rain. From your truck window on a never been shot at random lasered 200 yard target. You probably get my point. “Always“ success will be way less than the ideal, practiced conditions you posted. A good video...

    .22 LR long-ish (long-er) range

IMO, shooting 22 LR past 100 is like shooting 223 past 600. You can do it, but the choice is dumber and dumber the further you go. ”I can hit a plate at 200 with a 22.” Yea, maybe 20% of the time, is that really “success” ?

I shoot IMI Match 77’s out to 600 with 1:9 both in an AR and a bolt.

Imagine years and years of zero silencer availability

When will there be a class action lawsuit against govt for interfering with public safety regarding guns? Laws prevent excessive noise in multiple products, industries and areas for both safety and quality of life. Earplugs in your dump truck aren’t necessary, but it didn’t start out that way...

    45 Super ???

I was doing this for a few years with my Kimber Classic Stainless LE. Then I bought a 10mm and realized I was spinning my wheels for those few years pretending I had a 45 Super. Get a 10.

    Scam Starline website

My son does. Taught him at 15, he’s 22 now. But he wouldn’t have bit on the scam. I gotta run. Just got a text that UPS has a package but I have to send credit card info to pay shipping. I didn’t order anything. But with the holidays I’m sure it’s a gift. Woooo hoooo to me!

    I Found a Deer Today

Half way between the eye and ear is a lethal kill shot, DRT. The Native American woman that killed a grizzly with a 22 shot it half way between the eye and ear.

How much ammo do you have in your favorite caliber?

Same. And before losing everything, I was very well stocked. Why, in .22 alone, I had 65 rounds at the high point! I panicked during covid and bought another box of 50 when I still had 15 left from the last box. I’m not proud of that bit of hoarding.

Longevity of budget vs higher priced AR-15's

Thanks for bringing this up. I’ve never really thought about this. You are spot on. Cumulative bullet time in a 24” barrel, 223 Rem, is about 10 seconds for 10,000 rounds. Cumulative bullet time in a 24” barrel, 220 Swift, is about 1.2 seconds for 1,500 rounds. How long will your 223 AR...

45-90 Handloads for an original 1886 Winchester

Thanks @Trey Veston for the offer. No need, I’m good for now with 26 WRACO cases. Your THR type offer is what makes THR a great place. Yes, Starline makes a 45-90 brass production run occasionally, min order 500, and then re-sellers sell 100 cases on GunBroker for about $1.25 per case...

Pros and cons of an 8" barrel

I wondered the same. So, I bought a no dash 586 8-3/8” with a 4 position front sight which I dialed in for 25, 100, 150, 200 yards. It’s both a challenge and super fun at the range. Shooting standing, unsupported while ringing steel or breaking clays way out there gets a lot of people ooohing...

45-90 Handloads for an original 1886 Winchester

Thanks for the comments @Bobaloo22 and @Charlie98. I feel very fortunate to own this 1886 for a time before passing it on to my kids and add to the story.

45-90 Handloads for an original 1886 Winchester

This 1886 in 45-90 left the Winchester factory in 1892. It sat hidden and forgotten in an abandoned logging camp for about 30 years. In the 1950’s the barrel was cut from 24” to 21.75”. Gun was in tough shape, a junker really, pitted, gouges in stock, etc. In the 1960’s my Dad turned it...

Ouch! Stuck 223 case in die…How to remove?

Stuff happens. I started the thread to show an alternate when stuff happens. Some of the posts, like yours, are posted to make the poster feel good and give no additional value or knowledge to the community. Like this one… Well, duh. Or this one, admitting to sticking a case after saying...
