    Leather Works Info, Please

I know what's entailed in tanning hides... I could just picture me trying to talk my wife into chewing a hide I just pulled out of deer brain mash...lol Not happening... For years I would just salt my hides after skinning, and send them off to Wisconsin or somewhere, and for about $25 they'd...

    Leather Works Info, Please

Thanks All! Great Info just as I knew I'd get on here. Yes, I'll be mostly doing Deerskin, but I picked up a box of old gun leathers at auction (old holsters and gunbelts) and thought it'd be perfect for messing about and learning on for stuff like simple knife sheaths, etc. Hope everyone on...

    Leather Works Info, Please

Yes, thanks, I know Amazon has stuff, but I was looking more towards dedicated leather working companies that guys have experience with as far as good tools and customer service. I figured a lot of guys on here are making their own goods for Blackpowder, or used to, anyway... that Tandy site...

    Leather Works Info, Please

Wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought "Blackpowder" would be the best bet. I'm looking to start doing some Leather working from my deerskins. I need some suggestions on where the best place to get some basic starting tools would be. Any favorite websites for Leather Tools? Thanx in advance!

    Another Old Soldier...

Thanks Jim, I did a quick takedown and tried to get the forend stock off, but it appears it won't get off unless I tap the front sight out first to slide the barrel band off. I'm gonna leave that for another day. I also figured mine was a later model, due to the long rifle capability, but that...

Any guesses on this folding stock?

I like Sgt. Mike's answer... 500 or 870, with the 500 sounding more correct. I had one of those early stocks for my 870, but it looked better quality. Mossberg always had more of an "economy" component to it...lol (Sorry folks, not trying to start anything, just making an observation)

    Another Old Soldier...

I was able to acquire another oldie but goodie. (IMHO) It is a Remington Model 4S, Military Model. Didn't know it existed before I saw it in the auction and fell in love. Can anyone enlighten me as to placing a date on this? I get the general era, but is there a way to date this particular...

    What is it? RL

Well now, isn't this computer thingy a marvelous invention... Thank you! It doesn't change my life too much, but I won't be up at night trying to figure out how it works... I can now let only the stuff my wife piles on my to do list to keep me up....

nothing in the manuals to clue you in on a purpose? It looks exactly like it, except a different handle... speaking of handles, the first time I went to Scotland, I brought home some Laphroaig...

Oh Curse My Aging Eyes! It wasn't until I read your last post that the light bulb finally went off in my head... I never REALLY checked these out with strong glasses on...I thought I was looking at two hex screws that just spun in place! And for the life of me couldn't figure out how it...

It's funny... I got a whole steel rack of lead molds, reloading stuff, Black powder stuff, and although I don't know anything about who this stuff belonged to, as I go through each box of stuff, I see someone very like myself...Scattered thoughts and random items all related to different aspects...

.38 special bullet variation same weight

I'm also guessing bullet construction itself is going to change the center of gravity in each bullet. You have two different construction designs/materials. One fully jacketed , more hollow, more tapered. the other semi jacketed with a wide lead tip. Their center of gravity points are going to...

This doesn't spin... it's like a punch-out from an electrical outlet box was clamped by the set screw here...the screw doesn't pass through, just tightens down on it. I was thinking like it was some sort of leather tool or something like that...

    What is it? BP

Wow! Thanks for all the fantastic info and the photo. I hope this thread is around a long time, because I just got this gun. Like I said, I really don't have much to go with it... my stuff's for inline hunting with a .50. This is like saying, "I've got some grapes , I'm gonna make some wine!"...
