New to me 1911 and the 250gr hardcast load

Excellent post, thank you. I'm getting back into reloading (reloaded for 15 years, took around 5 years off, now in my 40's) and have a ton of lead, molds and brass (as well as old-but-sealed powder and primers). I probably have 5k+ rounds of reloads in .45acp alone, but I find reloading...

    S&W SD9VE 9mm or a Taurus?

I have several Taurus pistols, including two G2Cs. I've been blessed to have zero serious issues with any of them. I also own a S&W SD9 (black slide/ "ghost gray" frame). I shoot all of them about the same. I will say I feel a bit more confident with the SD9 in hand due to the ergonomics...

Anyone remember the Montana man who was displaying a firearm near a school? Montana law did not exempt him from federal law.

I would empathize with him if he were being busted just for possessing a firearm on his property, which is within 1000' of a school. However, I do believe the sidewalk is public property and that's when he foolishly placed the noose around his neck and taunted the hangman. Murphy spares no one.

    CZ P-10F 45, who knew?

    Thanks!

    CZ P-10F 45, who knew?

Geez, what's the capacity of this .45acp of yours? It looks awesome. I'm pretty happy with my P10c, especially the trigger.

    New SAR 9 Gen 2s and 3s

I have two SAR9s that I thought I really liked at first, but the manual safety began to bug me. There was word that a replacement pin would be available for order to replace the manual safety, but as of now, no dice. I wonder, seeing the compact model having what looks like a pin where the...

Guns you thought you’d like but didn’t…

I wanted a CZ-52 for a while about 15 years ago, bought one and I hated it. I sold it for nearly twice what I bought it for, so no problems. Two Yugo M57s replace that CZ-52 and I've never looked back.

    My Latest Acquisition--Colt Government 380 Series 80

Some of the very first Mustang magazines held 5 rounds, however, the follower was redesigned early on, increasing the capacity to the 6 rounds it is today (which is why all Mustang mags sold now are of the 6-round variety). I have seen many Mustangs with 6-round magazines whereas I haven't seen...

    My Latest Acquisition--Colt Government 380 Series 80

The Mustang has long been on my bucket list but I stumbled upon the Gov't model first. The only real difference between a Mustang and Gov't model is a half-inch barrel (2.75" Mustang vs 3.25" for the Government) and an extra round (6+1 for the Mustang and 7+1 for the Gov't). It was on the...

Asheville NC, Own Particular Carry Laws?

Well, I live 20 minutes from Asheville and I've carried there literally hundreds of times. I've never found it any different from the adjacent county I live in, which is essentially look for the "No weapons" signage on entrances and if found, take your business elsewhere. You can carry in...

MCK Sales, Discounts... Because They're Verboten?

I just received a text from MCK concerning a "buy one, get one free" sale for their products. Last month, I removed my G22 from the MCK kit that I had, which was a shame as it was pretty sharp. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the brace installed, these can no longer be used legally without...

    My First Pistol

I enjoy mine... though I did have to address the uber-aggressive stippling as I prefer to carry IWB and I don't use an undershirt. It's an excellent firearm.

    My SAR USA SAR9

I was so impressed with the 1st SAR I purchased that I bought a 2nd. I'm weird that way. My only gripe is the manual safety. I saw a replacement pin was supposed to be in the works a while back that allows one to replace the safety with a pin, but I haven't looked into seeing if they're...

Hi Point is doing .30 Super Carry

The more platforms out there chambered in the .30SC the better. I am hoping for a high-capacity G19-sized carry pistol in .30SC some day. As William Cowper said, "Variety is the spice of life." A 20+1 G19 would be fun.

    Quality alternatives to an LCP?

I have a Taurus TCP and a Taurus Spetrum that's close in size. Inexpensive and reliable, hard to beat.

    Anyone use...sling-shots?

Oh yeah... been into slingshots for years, having started off with the tube-band "wrist rockets" and got pretty good with them. Through my teens, I must have burned through 3 or more dozen powerbands. I've moved on to flat bands that are both easier to draw and yet still proved higher velocity...

    Looking for a 2nd 10+ Round Micro-9

IDK about prospective micro-9s, but I gave my M&P40c a new lease on life with a 357 Sig barrel. I switched from the M&P40c to a Sig 365 and then (and currently) back to a Glock 19, but I can't stand to part with either the M&P40c or Sig P365. Every time I get rid of a firearm, I tend to...

    Rubbish, or I’m missing something?

Yes, it's called "bounce-back", though that's an extreme example. Where you see the wound track is where the projectile has traveled. I don't see this offering me anything my #1 Buck won't provide at the defensive ranges. Surely there's someone out there drooling over these shells.

How to ruin your tighty whitey

Hmm, my dream of chambering a J-frame in the mighty .500 S&W magnum is dashed.

    80 yrs old surplus ammo!

I still have a couple of thousand rounds of FN 7.92x57 dated to 1950 and all the rounds that I've tried through my M48 and M48A work perfectly. It boils down to storage. I have some 8x56R with 1938 headstamp and though I don't want to use much of it (may be a collectible) but they also work...
