Black Powder Pistols in the News

I find that article amusing on more than one level. It shows how much harder is to obtain firearms in Europe compared to America - so Pietta .36 suddenly and unexpectedly became a desirable solution. Which leeds to the UK streets in the 21st century having a touch of American 19th century towns...

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

I followed in the footsteps of old Colt!? (Great minds think alike?) Thanks for this AWESOME information, it made me happy.

    Thanks Winnie-the-Pooh, I appreciate it :)

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

Thanks, I know about that procedure, and maybe I'll have to resort to that one day, but for now I'll continue to hope to find the factory-made silver 1851 Navy .36 and the silver Walker.

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

Thanks 1K for the explanation, I know now exactly what you mean, because I've seen online both types of finish, they look different. The way you explained, mine is then definitely stainless steel. It's not that uncommon for Pietta to produce stainless steel percussion revolvers, but they are...

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

Thanks. I may sound ignorant, but actually I have no idea what would be the difference between stainless and "white". It is steel. The model is called "Old Silver .44" - Pietta code "CASOS44". Since I desperately want - actually, need - the all silver revolver, I have yet to get the silver...

They say the best swords have names. :) I want to name my revolver... part Army, part Navy, part Kirst... any suggestions?

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

Thank you so much. I am indeed very satisfied because everything turned out to be much better than I expected. I achieved the noticeably higher (mirror-like) polish inside the round part which I have cut - than the original factory polish of the rest of the frame. I would never thought that...

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

Thank you Sir! The hole is slightly asymmetric, because a) I was not able to make it different than what I managed to do with the tools which I had, and b) I wanted to cut as little of the recoil shield as possible, to weaken it as little as possible. I've seen online some much wider openings...

My project: 1860 Army + 1851 Navy + Kirst Konverter

I cut the recoil shield. Kirst is on the other side of the globe from me. That was the first time ever in my life that I worked with metal and with those tools.

    Reloading black powder

Funny to see someone else named .38 Special - that's the name I use for myself around some other places on the web  For now I'm happy that it works and that it didn't blow up in my hand. 4 days ago was just a short testing in urban area, highly illegal and dangerous. I have to wait for...

    Reloading black powder

Thanks Jim, I know about heeled bullets, drobs told me about them long ago, but there is no doubt - NO such thing (bullets, guns, powder...) can be shipped across Atlantic, so it's pointless discussing it. I have what I have.

    Reloading black powder

Hi. You're right - my .357 wadcutters indeed fall freely through the barrel. But I don't see the point of your post. I have .36 revolver. To use cartridges, I got conversion cylinder to .38. So that's my setup, that's what I have. That means I need .38 Special cases - that's the size I need, no...

    Reloading black powder

...and it's PERFECT. Right from the start, from the very first bullet I made yesterday - all perfect. It took me full 20 months since I got the Kirst Konverter to try it out. I can upload some photos, just give me time... I'm quite slow as you can see :) Thanks all, especially Navy Six who gave...
