    Why have lever prices doubled?

I like that Henry revived the style of the earliest lever guns but wish they'd made hem look "older" out of the box. It wouldn't have been difficult to trick their line to produce aged brass and deep colored walnut, a least I wouldn't think it would and I've "aged" dozens of reiflee finishes for...

Precision Pistol Box (Pachmayr Range Box clone) overview

https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipN7SI91-_q_qyoM6F97yGzZL9IMZ9EN8X2lhwj2 One thing not mentioned is that in bullseye competitions shooters don't often get much space on the firing line and also often not much time to repeatedly get set up and then take it down for each relay in order to...

Did anyone say George Segal, "The Bridge at Remagen"? I stopped reading the thread at around post #20.

    Browning high power

One of the most beautiful and well balanced handguns ever made - fabulous in the high polish blued Belgian made glory - those you modify with much prior thought. I have one left that I put in ambidextrous safety, a sear and grips I think came from cylinder and Slide. It's so fine I seldom take...

Is it worth it to convert a .380 to 9mm Makarov?

I'd go the other way if ever changing caliber in the mousers. I mean most of those pistols are much more manageable and pleasant as .32's. This from owner of both calibers in mouseguns and both .380 and MAKs in pistols with more weight.

CMP Gets 100,000 M1 Garands from the Philippines and Turkey.

I think that anyone interested who hasn't got one should quit whining about price and just get a rifle. No matter what it costs you'll forever be glad you have one even if only for the ability to hold a connection to the best this nation has ever been in your hands.

    Ouch! That hurt.

It's small and powerful = hurt. I have a 5" XD in .45acp and it's a pussycat no matter the load. Ya, p64 - for a makarov it really sucks. Lousy long heavy trigger culminated by the sharp recoil just isn't worth it. I've got Makarovs and love 'em, really like the M82 (? - I've forgotten their...

    Colt 1911

I can't see it well enough in the photos supplied. They're small and not well lit for close examination. While the poor job done on that serial number would be more than enough to keep any half seasoned collector from buying the pistol, I'm sure that on close exam, especially an in-hand exam by...

    CZ-52 Barrel Welding for Flashhider?

Bad idea to think of welding a barrel -too many possible failings of the steel and/or the safety, usability, and accuracy - besides, the great flash and roar of the CZ-52 are it's most redeeming features. that pistol is fun to shoot -why would anyone want to lessen the fun?

New Sig P 365, looks interesting

"saw that Brownells is offering a pre-order for $499." There goes my goose - getting cooked again. Dang it.

    A Pair of Very Different Colt's 1903s

You typo'd right? 1908 is the Colt .25 cal "Vest Pocket Pistol" that shares a lot of the 1903 features but is a much smaller pistol. Never tried it but I think the little guy could be carried in the small pocket in a pair of Levi's jeans.

Browning Hi-Power Mk III: Is This Normal Trigger Wear?

Looked at my 1968 Silesian Belgium and have no wear visible on either side of the trigger. There is a slight trigger wobble side to side though. That said I wouldn't worry about the little bit you've shown here, at all. Any chance that you're not pulling the trigger straight to the rear with...

    A Pair of Very Different Colt's 1903s

I agree here about those huge sights - they're just too large for the pistol. 1903 then and now is a great carry gun in either caliber. They're thin, reasonably lightweight for an all steel pistol, and they point beautifully. I prefer shooting the .32 - it's an accurate cartridge that can be...

    Re-barreling a S&W 686 (66-5)

35,000 plus magnum firings? Whew! If you fired them it'd probably be a thing to donate your brain to the outfit that studies pro football player's brains for concussion damage after they've croaked.

Better first upgrade accessory for modern handgun...

It's always seemed to me that a light mounted on my pistol would give a bad guy something to shoot at, and there I'd be, right behind it when he inevitably misses. Night sights. Even if a full sight picture is hard or impossible to obtain just getting the front onto a target should put shots in...

    New Sig P210a

Bannockburn, I like the matte finish of your BHP - sure easier to use than my old (1968, as I remember) Belgian one with it's nice blueing. Though I grew up with blued firearms I see the disadvantages now.

Sig 365...do you think people are excited about it?

I've got that stainless p232. It's the nicest shooting .380 I've had the pleasure to try but it's no lightweight (stainless generally a little heavier than the blued version). I've never had an issue with any ammo - never any kind of problem. But it's got the sort of weird double action pull...

Sig 365...do you think people are excited about it?

Smaller, yes. But I stopped trying every new smaller when I bought my first G19. Looks like this 365 is a little over an inch shorter than my g19 and that's significant, about the same height with their flush mag, and 2/10ths wider which are less than insignificant to me. 15+1 is definitely...
