I would not recommend G26 for ankle carry...too thick. I found that the best method...for me...was MTAC IWB:
I also like the Rusty Sherrick "High Ride" in good horse leather OWB:
I am a glock fan...it is my CCW...only in 9mm. Still...when I think of .45 ACP the large/slow camp, I just cannot help but think of a larger platform with 5 inch barrel.
I know, I know...we have high tech bullets with faster burning powders to meet the needs of those who want a large...
I agre with jmr40: Get a G19 or G26. Glocks and high velocity 9mm just seems to work well. I like the .45 ACP in a larger framed, 5 inch barrel platform like Browning designed it.
Everyone wants a larger, magic bullet but they want to carry it in a tiny platform.
All would work...if...
I have the ol' style bayonet...tried it on once for the below photo.
I immediately took it off...as it really is pretty hokey.
I really don't want anything extending from my barrel when I actually have to move and shoot the shotty.
5-5-5 Test created by a much smarter gun guru than me:
Fire five rounds of each caliber of choice:
Fire five rounds in five seconds at a target five yards away.
If you can place five rounds within five inches of POA...you have found your perfect carry caliber.
If you cannot hit a...
I like the Corbon DPX + P myself...
They feed well...and I am extremely accurate with them...
The Gold Dots are nice too...and they are specifically designed for short barrels.
Lot of hype/marketing in bullet brands.
Any brand hollow point + P works just fine if you do your part. Try different brands and see what your weapon digests best and you achieve the best accuracy with.
After myriads of weapons and boxes of holsters, my primary carry is a 9mm and it is the Glock 26 carried in a MTAC holster. Reliable 10 + 1 that I find accurate and feeds on any kind of ammo.
My 2nd generation DAO runs like a swiss watch. It loves 160 grain Corbon
DPX and, although I carry a Glock 26 daily, the Tarui sits on my night stand. I shot it so much that the front sight came off...screw in. I replaced it with a fiber optic screw-in (added loc-tite) this time and just...
The 36 is only slightly thinner than the 26. Honestly, both are a snap to conceal in a MTAC holster.
With the 26, I almost forget I'm carrying with 10 + 1 capability. I am small stature: 5' 8" at 170lb.
I have to laugh at so many calling weapons ugly or good looking...really?
I...
Any weapon you can reach is a good candidate for home defense IMHO
. Now...the pistol is on the night stand...the shotty is behind the couch...but the ol' M1 is always near at hand.
I used to be neutral...then I bought a G26 and it has become my CCW of choice. What can I say? It is reliable, concealable and I shoot it well.
IWB MTAC is oh-so-comfortable.
Longer slide vs short grip works extremely well in a Rusty Sherrick High Ride too:
Wait...your primary CCW is a G26 and you want to consider a heavier, less dependable pistol?????
Naaaaw. If you can shoot with any kind of accuracy, stick with the G26...you don't need anything else.
