It is my contention that anyone who thinks he will be able to accurately determine who exactly is able bodied and who is or is not able to protect themselves within the split second adrenaline dump chaos of an attack or gunfight is, shall we say, optimistic.
No, it is not my LEGAL...
The 1851 was in .36. The “navy caliber.” The Paterson was offered in a couple optional calibers including .28, .31, and .36 but the 1851 or “belt revolver of Navy caliber” was always .36 as far as I know. That’s not to say that post cartridge smiths may not have converted some into .41 rimfire...
Effectively yes but I pieced it together myself a decade before they were doing that. It’s a 590 (non A1) “Marinecote” that came with black plastic furniture. I ordered the optional heat shield kit and installed it, and then ordered wooden corncob furniture from a supplier that had a few sets...
Where did you read that? The first versions of the pistol didn’t have thumb safeties. It was DESIGNED to be carried chambered with the hammer down, and thumb cocked for the first shot. This is not the preferred method today for many reasons.
I’m surprised they bothered including the gas piston in the .380 at all rather than just going straight blowback. I’m surprised .380 has enough gas to make the system work properly. Very interesting.
I agree 40-45 grains is a good load. FYI to my knowledge Pietta never made a Walker. Yours is a Uberti.
Mine holds 60 grains and it is a hoot. I typically load 45 or 50 though because I think fewer caps get blown off.

Also FWIW you can use MKIII/MKIV magazines in the MKII. They are only about $19 each https://gregcotellc.com/cart/ruger-mecgar-factory-magazine-c-122/ruger-mkiv-mkiii-22-lr-vp-2-pack-10-rd-factory-magazines-90645-p-2222.html
The mag catch protrusion sometimes catches on its way out of the...
I would find OEM or try used OEM on eBay or gunbroker. Mec gar makes good stuff generally but IME their mags for the Rugers are a bit iffy. Maybe get one or two to try before you buy a bunch. However as noted, with the clip loader you really only need a few mags. With two or three mags you can...
FYI some ammo works better in it than others. Round nose works best. And a spray of rem oil in a batch of a couple hundred rounds in the hopper and shaken around makes them slip right down the chute. You can go through a brick very quick.
Good to hear from you again Gil. Cool revolver. You can hopefully get a replacement 4-click hammer for yours. What type of hammer safety does yours have? I think three clicks means it has the new retracting firing pin thing. Which IMO is goofy.
