    380 Day

Here are some. The browning is my favourite. I like the Walther, but it is very tool-like, it is just hard to feel anything about it. The Glock convinced me that I don't like Glocks, yet it is the one I have on right now. However, I only wear it in a full holster with active retention. This is...

Finally got to spend some time shooting my Umarex Origin today

For various reasons, I hadn't had time to shoot my Umarex Origin after getting it other than a few, "Does this thing work" shots. Most of today was focused on getting it sighted in, however, I am going to have to try again because I realized that I didn't get the scope as square to the gun as I...

    Cheap Hobby lathe

For the price that thing is amazing. But wow! That thing is small. They even have a micro-milling machine. I can not imagine what I would want a milling machine that small for, but it is amazing what they manage to pack into that thing. Added: I just looked at the reviews, they are terrible.

4 Choices for Self Defense in Urban /Suburban. Situations. Your Choice.

Thanks for the article link, it was interesting. Regarding my answer to the question, I will go with what I generally carry, the 380. Barrier blind is the absolute opposite of what I want from a gun in an urban or suburban area.

If you could have only one pistol?

This comes up now and again. My preference would be for something that shoots more than one calibre. This would put the 1911 high on the list. That said, of what I currently have, I would say my 1911-380.

    Why not 22TCM?

I wanted the MAPP compact, but it had been discontinued by the time I realized that I wanted it.

    Walther PK380 vs PD380

I currently have a PK380 and have been looking at the PD380. I can not help but notice that they have taken an already wide pistol and made it even wider. To me, it looks like the only changes that I might appreciate are the omission of the takedown tool and the longer barrel. I am glad that...

    Ruger Security 380 vs S&W EZ 380

Seeing as your primary carry is a Walther, I would recommend throwing the PK380 into the ring, even though it is discontinued. The PD380 looks to be the same gun with a few minor changes, but I have not seen, or handled, one so I can not say with any certainty.

    Why not 22TCM?

I have the 22tcm carbine, however, I wanted the compact pistol to go with it. I realized that I am not going to be able to get it. In this case, "it" means the double-action pistol, not the 1911. I have pretty much decided to convert the carbine to 9mm. That said, I would have loved to have...

    Alaska Safe Schools Act

As a teacher, but not in Alaska, I would be entirely willing. However, I know that I would not be able to meet the physical standards. I struggled to meet those standards in my 20s'. Further, as so many have commented such standards are pointless. It is not about "Ramboing" it through the...

Where to get a 9mm rifle barrel? Not for AR

I contacted him (special interest arms) and he is no longer making them. However, that article is pretty close to what I am thinking of.

Where to get a 9mm rifle barrel? Not for AR

Frankly, I have never seen a 9mm bolt action rifle for sale. As far as just getting a 9mm PCC, I already have that covered. But I want a bolt action. Both 9mm: I have considered throwing a 9mm AR barrel on a lathe and having at it, but I haven't cut threads since my father showed me how...

Where to get a 9mm rifle barrel? Not for AR

I decided I want to convert my 22tcm bolt action rifle to 9mm. I wrote to RIA and they told me that the thread is 3/4" 16tpi. Now I am at the next step, I am looking for a barrel. Where can I get such a thing? As an aside, the guy who used to do this, special interest arms, is no longer in...

Seems time for Ruger to reintroduce the 44 Mag carbine

What? Pictures of our Ruger 44mag carbines? Here's mine:

    Do you own a Glock?

A single Glock 42. It isn't a favourite, however, it is a good choice for kayaking and other activities where I can expect it to be underwater. I have the underwater firing pin bushing in it too.

    Snappy .380 pistols

I think he was talking about the +p ammunition. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as +p 380. There are no standard specifications for it, it is just overloaded 380. I would not recommend shooting it out of a blowback pistol, like the SIG pictured. Out of a modern pistol with a locking...

    Sports that attract new shooters.

I looked into it and came up with the 4-H BB-Gun league. The age group brackets are 9-15. With that in mind, I have written a letter to the Grand Lodge (state level of the Masonic Organization). As I discussed it with some other masons, I discovered that the lodge secretary is a 4-H shotgun...

TO POLISH OR NOT TO POLISH

I am in total agreement with "shoot it first." That said, many years ago I did detail strip my Makarov and polished all mating surfaces, other than the sear, with a greenpad. When I was done it was a much better gun.

The thread Sports that attract new shooters prompted me to write a letter to the Grand Lodge

Lodge means the local Masonic Lodge. Generally, when people mention Masonic lodges there will be an AF&AM (Ancient Free and Accepted Masons) tag on the post. Grand Lodge is the state-level organization. Beyond the scope of your question, but to tie the pyramid structure together, GLoE is the...

The thread Sports that attract new shooters prompted me to write a letter to the Grand Lodge

Well, the letter has been sent. The Grand Lodge secretary has contacted me and said that it will get serious consideration, for as little as that means.
