    Was This to be Expected?

The slower velocity means the barrel has risen more before the bullet leaves the barrel.

Using a Mandrel to open-up, expand neck on cartridge.

I'll be another voice in favor of mandrels. I have a 21st Century set and feel it was money well spent. I got them for 338LM. My most accurate charge weight was on the low end of the powder charge scale but ES was horrible and I doubt accuracy would hold up at distance. I thought tighter grip...

    Accurate 1680 uses

I have that same manual from back when I tried AA1680 in a Mini-30. I didn't get good accuracy with it, mostly because I was such a rookie that I was using .308 projectiles instead of .311 or .312. I suppose I should be grateful that I'm still alive. I do have almost 2,000 grains left and was...

Should I toss my rangemaster 750

Fluorescent lighting and drafts from heating or AC are also known to interfere with these in addition to cell phones. I really think a call to RCBS is probably needed.

Who else is using the harbor freight woodworking bench for reloading?

The display model was a bit wobbly but the price was right. I was going to screw a sheet of particle board along the back and sides to make it square and sturdy. It wasn't necessary. Whoever put together the display model ran out of elbow grease. I bolted a 4' section of 2x10 along the back...

    Would you sell powder???

There is a slightly fuzzy line between my stock and my surplus. Sell from my stock? No unless it means getting something I need more that is in shorter supply. Sell from my surplus? Sure. Especially if it means getting something I should have but don't, so trades for something equally scarce...

Trading Components vs. Buying & Selling

I listed a jug of H4350 offered in trade for Retumbo I needed. I posted on a few sites and some of those required a price, so I put $300, which was above what I paid but noted in the listing open GB auctions were in the $500 range. I got absolutely flamed. I have pretty thick skin so I didn't...

AA #7 for 9mm target loads

I've used AA7 but only for 145 gr. cast. It gave very good accuracy and the same POI as my 147 gr. carry ammo. I shot many thousands of rounds loaded slightly under book maximum and did observe a small amount of unburned powder, but in all those handloads never experienced one malfunction.

    Reloading my 222 Remington

I picked up some bulk bullets from a regional forum that were advertised as seconds. Prices used to be ~.05/round but have crept up to about ~.06 now. They were sold by weight, not count. These came packaged in bags with the Lighting brand but I don't know who actually makes them. They weren't...

    Help with 100 yard target

Look on the bright side. It sure beats the alternative.

.338 Lapua - Can I use Large Rifle Primers?

You just haven't been around long enough. Actually, I'm not that much older than you, but we won't talk about that.

    Help with 100 yard target

You are in denial. It is not the target, it's your eyes. 100 yards and iron sights is now beyond your range. I finally came to acceptance some years back after fighting with futility for years. Save all those targets with good 100 yard groups. Laminate the pages and have them bound into a book...

My most useless shooting accessory! What is yours???

I thought the same thing. I bought the 21st Century tool. I meticulously measured runout on 50 rounds on the middle of the neck and halfway between ogive and tip, then sorted the whole lot, best to worst. Then I headed out to the range. Best concentricity (almost none), 0.60 MOA. Worst...

.338 Lapua - Can I use Large Rifle Primers?

I have trays from three different lots. One lot matches the Standard or Magnum description, one only says Standard, the third is only labeled Large Rifle Primers without any Standard or Magnum designation. They must come from different time periods. Given how long I've had these, different eras...

.338 Lapua - Can I use Large Rifle Primers?

Are your LRP Winchester by any chance? They represent them as suitable for both standard and magnum loads. Scuttlebutt says they are hotter than other LRP brands but I have no way of confirming that.

    RCBS Partner Initial Impressions

I picked up a used Partner with a bunch of other reloading stuff from a local Armslist post. While I wish I had never let my Rockchucker go, I use it for .338LM without problems or complaints, maybe because I've adjusted my dies to not size any more than what it takes to chamber 100%.

    I've reached a bit of a milestone.

See how much money you've saved? Reality check. You probably didn't spend that kind of money on factory ammo. I never did.

    Primer pocket cleaning

There are a whole lot of shooters who use range pick up brass and a progressive press. They have never seen an empty primer pocket. I on the other hand am afflicted with an acute case of OCD. I clean all primer pockets used for precision (but none for plinking). Many in that first group shoot...

    Medium budget chronograph?

I have the ProChrono Digital that I picked up on sale for just shy of $100. I haven't had issues with it not picking up shots on sunny days but I've come to the conclusion that it can't divide time fine enough to distinguish less than 5 fps. I have no reason to think the mean velocity is off...

Why we need to fight any proposed UBC bills

    1. I don't agree with them. If someone cannot be trusted with a gun, they cannot be trusted without a custodian. How about we reserve lifetime forfieture for crimes that carry potential lifetime forfieture of liberty? Yeah, there are some areas where a rapist serves less than two years on...
