Vintage Handgun Values - up or down?

I have watched prices on revolvers and pistols for years. Prices go up on them every year. I have found there are certain times of the year are good times to buy. Right after Christmas to about the middle of February is the prime buyers time. One can usually get a good deal on the auction...

    Standard Mfg 1911

The bluing on the Standard Manufacturing CO 1911s and the SAAs is probably the best factory blue now. They are well polished and finished. It really makes the blue pop. Very nice 1911.

    Building a 10/22

I just finished building a 10/22, I started on in 2019. Put it to the side because of back and neck surgery. I used a Tactical Innovations Elite 22S receiver, coated stainless steel, Revelation stock, Pike Arms bolt, and mag release, got a CMC trigger on the way, and a 20” threaded KSA barrel...

    Brownell's 10-22 receiver

Looked myself after I posed. I didn’t see the steel 10/22 receivers listed. Real shame if they no longer offer them. They are the best I have ever seen and make a great custom build rifle.

    Brownell's 10-22 receiver

I bought a Tactical Innovations 10/22 receiver that is made of coated stainless steel, in 2019. It is the best 10/22 receiver I have ever seen or found. It is very well made. They are really worth looking into.

    A very SPECIAL 44

Very nice. Nothing looks and balances like a 4” S&W N frame, with that tapered barrel. They are beautiful revolvers.

    Love my S&W 44 Special's

You have some very nice looking revolvers. Love the way case hardening looks.

    Love my S&W 44 Special's

I am with you all the way on 44 Special. I grew up reading Elmer Keith, Skitter Skeleton and latter on Sheriff Jim Wilson. There is nothing like a revolver that is specificity chambered for .44 Special. The tapered barrel of S&Ws is especially pleasing to my eyes and the way a 4” points and...

What is the last gun that you bought?

Been wanting and looking for a Swiss Hammerli for years. I always liked the way the old Walther Olympias. The Hammerli 212 looks very close to the Walther Olympia. There are not many Hammerli 212s coming up for sale nowadays. I have learned over the years, the first few months after Christmas is...

    Handgun Pictures

I have been into firearms, shooting, hunting and collecting since I was a preteen and I am in my late fifties now. I don’t really care for the new stuff. I love walnut and steel. This caught my eye. I have been on the look out for a Hammerli for a while. I place a bid and won the auction. Pretty...

    Favorite 25 Cal?

I own two 257 Roberts and a 250-3000. I voted 257 Roberts but it is a hard choice. I like one just as much as the other. They are both fine rounds and both will preform well on deer size game animals. A good 1/4 bore is hard to beat.

    Pinned Barrels, yes or no

I wanted a 4” 624 when they came out, in the mid 1980s. No way I could afford on back then. I grew up reading Elmer Keith, Skitter Skeleton and Sheriff Jim Wilson and loved the .44 Special because of what they wrote about it. Several years ago, I found a new, never fired, 4” 624, in the box...

    Model 17 8 3/8”

I have seen revolvers that shipped after a change to a different dash change. I was wondering if they were just revolvers put together from parts or if they may be a 4 screw frame, with the new ejector rod threads. It would be interesting to know what the story is on revolvers like yours.

    Model 17 8 3/8”

I was not doubting or saying it is 63 no dash. I have seen S&Ws that lettered to a date, that didn’t correspond to the dash series they should fall in. Your revolver is just what you say it is. I was wondering how revolvers got out like this. I have never heard it it explained how or why S&W...

    Model 17 8 3/8”

I have a 6” 17-2 and like very much, but I have a 18 no dash, 4” barrel and it is my favorite rimfire revolver. 17s and 18s are the nearest rimfire revolvers ever made in my opinion. Nothing points and balances like they do or feels as good shooting.

    Model 17 8 3/8”

I am just asking a question nothing meant by it other than a question. I am big time into S&W, especially the older revolvers, and know S&W did funny things, back in the day. From what I have read and researched on S&W Revolvers from that time, shouldn’t your 63 17 actually be a 17-1? I thought...

Did smith and wesson ever make a 3" j frame in 38 with adjustable sights?

    I have a 3” full lug model 60, but it’s a .357 magnum.

    Freedom Arms Fan Boy?

Back in the early 90’s, I scraped the money together to buy a field grade 454. They were not called model 83 back then. It’s a 6” barrel. A few years back, I bought a model 97, 4 1/4” 44 Special. It is the perfect woods carry revolver. I believe they are the finest revolvers made and give up...

S&W Model 624 (keep or sell)

When the 624s came out, I was a young man, just out of college, with a wife, new baby and all the bill that come with such. I spent my teen years reading Elmer Keith, Skitter Skeleton and Sheriff Jim Wilson, and fell in love with the .44 Special. I wanted a model 624 so bad I can taste it. There...

Guns You Should Have Bought When You Had The Chance, And Now Regret Not Buying

Several years ago, I was in a Gander Mountain and they were sell German police trade in HK P7s for $599. I did not hesitate one bit. I picked what I thought to be the best of the lot, out of several, I looked at. I wish I had the money to buy all of them. Even at the time I bought it, I could...
