    I found a Remington 1894 double barrel

It seems it was made in 1910. I found it in a pawn shop two months ago. The bores are perfect. It locks up tight. I am going to shoot it.

Tonight I tried making a knife out of scrap scissors

I have never made a knife before. My son was throwing a $9 pair of broken scissors in the garbage this morning. I watched some knife making videos on youtube. They used pins and epoxy. I drilled holes in the scissors with a carbide end mill I got from Boeing surplus 10 years ago. i used a sink...

https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/new-to-me-benchmade-why-not-use-my-sog.791529/ Is there anything tangibly better? I just shot and gutted 3 animals. I also use it to cut open food packages and packages from Amazon.

New to me Benchmade... why not use my SOG?

I carried a Buck knife for years. Then I carried an SOG knife for years. It is Seattle legal. I got a new Benchmark today because I have been having trouble cutting around the annular ring in the rear of deer with the blunt SOG blade.

    Pawn shop score, Colt Woodsman

I went the the gun show yesterday and did not find much, but on the way back I hit the pawn shops and gun stores. I saw a 95% 1942 Woodsman for $299 in a pawn shop with original magazine. I did not even dicker them down.

I want to spout off.. Guns are like boats

When I am transporting, storing, or paying for them, I want them to be smaller. But when I am using them, I want them to be bigger. Some guns I like to shoot: 1911 Colt Colt New Service revolver Colt SAA Beretta 92 12 pound rifles with 40X scopes. Guns I like to carry: Kel-tec pistols 8.9...

Miserable Lee die boxes, I need a screwdriver to open them

And I have really strong finger nails. I can peel an orange quickly. I took out a pocket knife and hacked bevel on the bottom of the tab sticking out from the bottom half of the box. Now I can open them with just my finger nails.

I got a Rem 1100 at the crowded gunshow

I got a shotgun yesterday. They wanted $150 for a Rem 1100 12 ga 30" barrel full choke ribbed barrel . There were a few rust spots. I offered $120 and got it. Today I took it apart. I could not get the barrel off for an hour. Finally the barrel wiggled, but the gas cylinder was stuck. I move...

What would it take to fix this Colt revolver?

It is a Army Special made in 1910. It is 38 cal. The owner has very little money invested in it and wants to know if this kind of thing can be fixed. He is 900 miles from here, and I will not see him again for months, but he can send me pics. He is a very good machinist and welder.

Making an SOG folder more thumb friendly

My son does not own any guns, but he will play with a folder knife while playing video games. I try to give him knives he will play with. He has worn out few assisted opening knives. He operates the folder knife with his left hand while operating the mouse with his right. He lives and works in...

SOG Spec Elite Mini: The little knife that could

I gutted (2) animals in 2011 and (2) animals in 2012 with this tiny knife. It takes me 5 minutes to gut an animal. The knife is Seattle legal and I carry it year round. I don't live in Seattle, but I drive through at least once a month. I use the little knife to open packages of potato chips...

I am facinated with the Colt New Service 45 I got Saturday

I keep going back to look at this revolver again and again. I have owned many Colt double actions of this design in 32 S&W Long and 38 Special for a long time. I have taken them apart again and again and tuned them up per Kuhnhausen's excellent book. This is like the big brother to...

I bought an old Rem 700 today

I went to a gun show. I saw a Rem 700 7mmRemMag with Redfield scope for $350. I said, "I will give you $300 without the scope." The old guy went for it. I was thinking I would use the action, put a synthetic stock and a new 7mm barrel on it, cut threads and chamber. I got it home, and...

Did my granfather buy this ammo for the Alaskan Gold Rush?

He had the ammo when he died in 1965, so he could have bought this ammo later for his Iver johnson hammerless 38 S&W revolver.

Last month I found a 12 ga Rem 11 that was beat up, and I could tell I could get he guy down to $50, but I already have way too many shotguns. So I went and found my brother, that car pooled to the show with me, and told him about the deal. He bought it, and has been repairing the crack in...
