Too thick Hoppe .22 caliber cleaning patches.

I was at an Academy today and found a small (60 count) pack of SYNTHETIC Hoppe patches sized for .22-.27. They are the thin ones I had been previously using. I can’t find them in bulk anywhere . The cost for the small packs is a lot more on a unit patch basis than the thicker cotton ones. Oh, well!

Too thick Hoppe .22 caliber cleaning patches.

Another good suggestion. I would probably just switch to a slotted jag, but I really don’t like them much.

Too thick Hoppe .22 caliber cleaning patches.

That’s a good idea. I can put it in my drill chuck and spin it on some sand paper. Thanks.

Too thick Hoppe .22 caliber cleaning patches.

I have bag of Hoppe brand square cotton cleaning patches sized for .22-.270 calibers. After using them successfully for a while I am now finding that they don’t fit in my .22LR pistols. Upon inspecting the remaining patches I find two different kinds in the bag. Some are thinner and some...

Good deals on 12ga ammo. Quandary!

True Shot Gun Club is running a super sale on Rio Elite 12ga ammo including the #8, 1 oz, 1200 fps, 2 3/4” 2 3/4 dram equivalent target ammo I like best for $47.60 a case. No tax, but shipping does bite into the savings. I find their cheapest shipping per case is on 3 cases for around $36 to...

Any way to tighten an aluminum slide on a zinc frame - semi auto pistol

Sure, I understand, but spray painting is really not my thing, and I have none of the equipment. For a one time thing I would just as soon have it done professionally. If anyone knows of an applicator that works with Duracoat, please let me know.

Any way to tighten an aluminum slide on a zinc frame - semi auto pistol

Thanks for that. Is Duracoat something I can get a pro to apply for me?

Any way to tighten an aluminum slide on a zinc frame - semi auto pistol

Folks, I have a GSG .22 semi-auto, zinc pistol frame upgraded with a CWA pro model aluminum slide. It is beautiful and works great, but the slide to frame fit is very sloppy. Chet at CWA told me he has to make the slides oversized to guarantee they will fit the whole range of GSG frames that he...

    Ruger LC9S Pro

What did you find wrong with the LC9 (not “s”). Wasn’t that DAO? I’m sure you can still find some new or used. EDIT: Upon a little research I see that the hammer-fired LC9 is partially cocked by the recoil of the slide. I don’t know how much the action actually resembles DAO.

    Ruger LC9S Pro

They discontinued all versions and brought out the EC9s. An economy gun could hardly have a pro version

    Ruger LC9S Pro

No, it is the s, Jeb. The job wasn’t about weight, it was about length of pull and sloppiness. Some lightening just couldn’t be avoided while the rest was being addressed. For all the praise that trigger gets, there must be some demand for improvement. Powder River Precision saw enough market to...

    Ruger LC9S Pro

Some may remember I had a trigger kit installed on my LC9s. Shortened the take up. Shortened and lightened the pull. Very sweet trigger now though still a bit long.

Ruger Blackhawk. What would you do?

They don’t work that way. What they send is a shipping label...just as they should.

Factory 9mm ammo with “soft” primers?

Gun is back from the factory service center, but I won't have a chance to shoot it before leaving for a few weeks vacation. Funny how the service center tries to help and sometimes it is the wrong thing. I keep a red dot on this pistol (like all of my pistols), but took it off as instructed by...

Ruger Blackhawk. What would you do?

Another wacko conversation. WTH. You paid your money and have warranty rights. Ruger will pay for everything, shipping included. Why would you settle or screw around with it yourself? Why do gun owners think they are helpless and even consider eating a problem like this? Or just as bad thinking...

Decided to put a reflex sight on my training pistol

Well, that is the price you pay for co-witnessing, right? And sI think the more modern window designs like on the Vortex Venom give a more open appearance. The RMR has a bulky look about it that does seem to crowd the window. Personally I have no interest in co-witnessing or alternative sights...

Decided to put a reflex sight on my training pistol

I’m confused about your “crowded window” comments. What could be in the window except the dot and the sight picture?
