    Who needs 357 Dainty?

An interesting historical note about police use of revolvers is that, when he was NY Police Commissioner, Theodore Roosevelt standardized the department's use of the Colt New Police revolver. The cartridge was then adopted by several other northeastern U.S. police departments.[4] The .32 Long is...

    Who needs 357 Dainty?

Old, fat and slow, a .45 ACP still gets the job done. It got the US Army through several serious wars.

    Who needs 357 Dainty?

The .357 was developed for law enforcement as a revolver cartridge able to defeat ballistic vests and automobile metal then being used by criminals, when before then only the Colt Super Automatic could do that. For myself, I feel that a .38 Special, or even a .38 S&W, is more than adequate for...

Scope vs Red Dot vs Iron Sights - Expected Accuracy

If you are only shooting paper targets in competition, then it may be important whether your firearm shoots 1 MOA or 2 MOA, but IRL even a 5 MOA firearm is more than adequate at realistic ranges. Maj EGB Reynolds states the accuracy standard for the No. 4 Mk I was the same as the No. 1 rifle at...

    Who needs 357 Dainty?

Old, fat and slow, a .45 ACP still gets the job done. In fact, the USA fought a lot of wars with the old war horse. Of course, it was men who fought those wars.

    358 Winchester 444 marlin or 45/70?

If you can hit it with a 45-70-500 at any range, you can kill it. The problem is determining the range because of the high arc of the round. https://usarmorment.com/pdf/45-70.pdf

The anti-AR/AK - single shot rifles

There is a 30-30 and a 45-70 barrel for the T/C Contender. Never have found one, though.

The anti-AR/AK - single shot rifles

Whether cartridge or muzzle loader, the single shot weapon is the antithesis of the currently popular autoloading rifle. While proponents of the autoloaders are buying larger and larger magazines and practicing changing them, those of us who like single shots are learning how to make that one...

Think of Louisiana, if you can stand the heat. In 2012 we passed a constitutional amendment to strengthen 2d Amendment rights in the state, I think by 70%.

    Who doesn’t own/like AR’s?

BTW, I am a 2d Amendment purist. Just because I don't like something does not mean somebody else should not be allowed to own it. IMHO, it has nothing to do with hunting. It is a check on governmental power, which is why the statists hate it.

    Who doesn’t own/like AR’s?

Another pet peeve is being on the down side of the ejection port of an AR or AK shooter who is doing mag dumps.

    Who doesn’t own/like AR’s?

I went through Basic Training with an M1, was issued an M14 my first tour in Germany. My first tour in RVN I mostly carried an M79 and a .45 1911A1. Second tour I was issued an M16 for guard duty. Never did like the things, still don't. I refuse to go to the range, because there are mostly...

    Shoot it and leave it.....

I spent about 6 years on active duty with the US Army, including two tours in Vietnam. I also spent about another 10 years in the Reserves. Not cleaning whatever weapon I use, whether I fire it or not, whenever I carry it, would go against all that habit. I guess I never shoot enough for high...

Handloading the 50-70 Government - data from the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 3d Edition

No, or I would have included it. This was the only table in several books that I have that had anything on the 50-70 Government.

Anybody shooting an 1870 Navy Rolling Block in 50-70 Government?

Sorry. It is an original Navy Rolling Block that has had the barrel and fore stock shortened. The original front sight is missing. I have been shooting paper patched projectiles that I pour into my version of the Ideal Cylindrical Adjustable Mold...
