Got that leupold vx-3hd 3.5-10x40 firedot mounted with the new talley lightweight medium rings, I could maybe went with lows but it would have maybe touched the eye piece and if not it would not be much room and have my thumb get in the way if using a pinch grip. Camo the stock is next, I should...
It's up to you we could talk what would be better till where blue in the face, both have pluses and minuses. 375 is more available but there aren't many rifles chambered in it anymore that are affordable, the 9.3 you can get in a few reasonably priced rifles but brass is like unicorn horns right...
I think xphunter here has a 14"bolt pistol in 6.5-300, he definitely has a few fast rounds in his hand cannons. I've seen a few 6.5-300s online on different forums in the 18-20" range.
I don't know if the tapping works on the latest generation of leupolds but it sure does on my 90s vari-xii with fiction rings, the ring actually goes down some when tapping them. The clicks feel much better on the vx-3hd's compared to the vx-3i's.
Think they used to carry about .010" think canvas but haven't seen any the last few times there. Use there pillow ticking tho, Walmart must think people are still making a bunch of pillows these days lol. Anyone have there SKU number for the canvas.
Ya that's definitely worth doing, I now check everything possible on a scope before mounting after I mounted a scope for a customer and got chewed out for mounting it crooked, turned out when the power ring was turned the reticle did to.
Ya leupold really needs to do something about there turrets not tracking, I love there scopes but wouldn't buy anything they make if your twisting the knows much. They would be back on top if they had good turrets.
How dose the on off feature work, is it a always on but shuts off when not moving. I know you can push the button to turn it on. Is there a off between each brightness setting.
Ya I think some get upset that it may not be super daytime bright but for low light what it is made for think I'll like it, I have an astigmatism that doesn't play well with some dots but in low light I think I'll be OK, interested to see how my eyes like it or not in the daylight.
Finally giving leupolds firedot a try, ordered one this morning form eurooptic.com. some how over they years I've never even had the chance to look through one but always wanted one, guys that own them seem to praise the ones they have. Were allowed to shoot 30 minutes before sunrise and 30...
If all things go well should be ordering a new leupold scope tomorrow for my pre 64 m70, and some 30mm rings for it, just have to finish blue the gun or a least some cold blue for now and maybe camo paint the stock and shoot then it should be done.
