    45 Colt or 44 Magnum??

I think so many of us had to make that same choice at one time or another. The chances are that most of us end up owning both. The effectiveness on target and hunting is very similar. My only thought would be if you are only going to shoot cast, go for the larger diameter bullet. [hunting purposes]

Freedom arms or BFR, which one is the most accurate?

I have both revolvers and have shot both many times at 100 yds with reloads. The 454Casull in my avatar wears a JP enterprise red dot and my BFR has an Ultra dot 30MM. [both have 7 1/2" barrels] My point being I am pretty much comparing apples to apples. I can't imagine how much shooting you...

    Best long distance pistol caliber

The revolver you are shooting is fine for what your doing. [only target] If you have an itch for a more accurate revolver, you can't go wrong with an FA83. [check the avatar]

    Red dot for GP100

Craig, that is the exact mount I was referring to. I can't put pics on here but, currently I have a cheap green dot mounted on my GP. I have also had an Ultra dot 4 and a 2X Leupold. With that mount you have all the options for experimenting. Seems I am liking the green dot more and more.

    Red dot for GP100

I would go to Weigand and get a no drill base and top it with a Vortex venom with the lifetime guarantee. [$300.00 well spent]

    180 SST

I just got around to shooting my 300WM and I am short on time to get it ready. Any of you guys have favorite loads with 180 SST's or SGK's. On hand I have IMR &H 4350, Re19, and H4831. I will mainly use it for whitetail hunting. I am aware of all the safety rules and disclaimers. I have loaded...

Best hunting gun for deer with medium recoil

All have mentioned good calibers. I believe you are overlooking the 6.5 caliber. I have in the past used most calibers mentioned and have to include 260 Remington. It performs out of porportion to it's size and velocity range. If you have experience with the 6.5 caliber you would have to agree.

Who says 7.62x39 doesn't kill deer.

Everything you are doing is right in line for deer hunting. I believe people get caught up in the ADVERTISING end that bigger is better. Stick with what works for you. Always pick the best bullet for the job and placement is key. Good luck in the future!

    Techniques for Shooting Magnum Revolvers

Why not just use the 6 gr load? Bullet placement goes a long way! Your load should be good to 50 yds.

    Poll- Clint or Elmer

I truly believe in Elmer K but, I think Dirty Harry really helped lightly used 44 mags to show up at a good price!!!

    SSK 14" & Encore Pro-Hunter 24" 45-70

I am trying to find a cast bullet load that will work well in both for hunting. Any suggestions? Right now I have 320 gr cast HPGC's.

    44 Mag revolver/carbine load suggestions

Try adding a CCI 350 or Fed 155 primer to that 23gr/IMR4227. It made my revolver shoot terrific with low SD at 1250 fps.
